Is this a good light

I'm running a viparspectra 600w at the moment and heard a few negative things, I was looking at this light on Ebay and was wondering what everyone thought, my tent is 120x60 so not very big (light in pics).

It's my first grow so I will still be able to sell my vipar at not much of a loss, just thinking a grow takes so long and if I can get more bud with a better light it's worth it. Want to stick to led to keep my electricity cost down.

If in fact that light kit, is as described, it is a fantastic light. HLG quantum boards are at the top of the list for many DIY LED users.
It will require basic assembly, but it will be as good as one could ever want for a space that size, in my opinion.
It is a definite upgrade from your current lighting.

Ok thanks for the quick response chip

Are these genuine or did they give the wrong specs? Those are QB288 boards but supposedly pulling 250w? Should be 260w.

I run 4 HLG 320 kits for my flower and it does perfectly fine.
QB LED's are in my opinion the best LED option on the market right now, but make sure you're buying genuine samsung diodes and trusted names, not cheap chinese knock offs using shitty diodes.

For a comparison, I replaced 2 600w and a 1000W HID and my yields have barely changed. The nugs don't quite get as rock solid but in turn they are like disco balls so a loss for a win really, and the weight still seems to be there even without the density. That's a fair trade for the sake of getting to run a 6" intake and exhaust rather than an 8-10" exhaust and 8" intake and an A/C 24/7.

My bill dropped about $300 a tri-semester too

I highly doubt they are real qb' with real lm301b. Hlg does not sell qb' on Ebay. Those are definitely alibaba knock offs
Yeah thats my thought too, but the retail stockists do so I suppose it could be possible but their specs seem off to me plus the notable effort put in to make sure they didn't brand it as HLG tells me it's probably garbage, if you're selling HLG lights you market them as HLG lights with the reputation they have now.

For what it's worth, here's a $408 dollar build kit I put together for a 500 watt. You can half it if you'd like and do 250 watt build. Still well under $1 per watt.

You'll need a hacksaw or circular saw to cut the metal and a drill for the self tappers. Besides that, no other tools necessary.

Items:

• (8 Samsung LM561c 96 bulb strips. (ebay) $148.00

• (2) HLG 240-H-C2100 driver (a or b) (digikey) $120.00

• 2 piece of 2 in. x 96’’ angled aluminum. (home depot) $88.00

• 2 piece of 1-1/2 in. x 36’’ flat aluminum bar (to mount driver on) (home depot) $16.00

• 1 roll of thermal adhesive. (amazon) $15.00

• 1 pack of ½ in. self tappers. (home depot) $5.00

• 2 3-prong power cords w/ open wiring. (home depot) $10.00

• 20’ of 18 gauge wire. (home depot) $6.00

Total: $408.00

Notes:

• You can substitute the LM561c's for the LM301b’s.

• Will need potentiometer if using ‘b’ style driver.

• Use four 2700k strips and four 3500k strips to blend to 3100k spectrum if you want.

• Wire in series.

• Will provide phenomenal performance for a 3x3 tent, above average performance in a 4x4.

Edit: https://imgur.com/a/ceS9so5 <- what my 2x4 version looks like with one driver and four strips.

Wow thanks for all the information, I decided against it anyway, I'm actually going to get this light, I've managed to get it cheap because it has 2 small dents in a heat fan on the edge, I'm sure that wont matter? Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks for the reply mate, I think I'm just getting one off here, they have very good reviews in the UK and it looks like they use good components (not that I know anything). Thanks for all the info

Yeah it will be interesting to compare my first grow with my next one with my new light, the spread is just rubbish on the viparspectra. I will be planting some seedlings on Monday so I will make sure to keep you all updated. I think it was worth going for the real deal. I'm getting the light off the same guy that made my dads up for him, his operation is much bigger than mine though, some pics of his attached. The hardest decision is what seeds to plant next! Thanks for the kind words

Yeah his light setup looks clean and set up properly.

Those lights aren't actually 275w just saying, they are 260w with a 240w ballast that has 10% leeway either way, but still a great light. I had two of that exact model arrive yesterday to replace another HPS
