Is there such thing as an Automated Indoor Growroom???

I'm a beginner and I am wondering is there any indoor growing systems or techniques that are somewhat "automated"?

Let's say that I was only able to tend to the garden every 2-3 days. What would be the best way to go about growing a crop?

Is it even possible??

If anyone can help or point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it... Thanks.

an automated system is possible but very difficult, if u can then every 2-3 days thats fine, i like to use aqua globes which can water your plants for up to 2 weeks and if there are in soil thats fine and the leights will be on a timer , so the short answer is....if u can tend every 2-3 days it will be fine :)

I appreciate the short answer...but can anyone give me the long answer??....lol :bigjoint:

Maybe I should clarify my first post...I was thinking just a small setup to start...I was gonna get a pack 10 of feminized seeds to germinate and go from there.

I always thought that some sort of hydroponic setup would be better than soil since I wouldn't be able to water everyday, but I never thought of those aqua globes.

Eventually I was thinking of doing some sort of SOG or SCROG.

Can anyone give me some examples and details of the biggest challenges that I will run into if I will gone for a few days on end and cannot tend to the garden??

Thanks

sounds like you should research what kind of setup then ask specific question ...
maybe one of those new robots from china could dance for your plants when you are away

How much money can you invest? If your lights were on the sides of the plants, maybe a vertical grow, so the plants aren't constantly growing into the lights and burning themselves then it would be possible. You could go 2-3 days with soil and nothing special needed if you simply used a container large enough to hold enough water for that time and kept the temperatures low or you could do ebb and flow or other hydro provided you used a large enough resevoir.

You said automated grow room though, and automation costs big $$ and still isn't totally hands off.

Tending every 2-3 days is no problem at all for soil or hydro.

When I did soil I only watered every 3-4 days and it is easy to make a auto waterer - a little tubing, timer and a pump and a water res is all you need to be gone for a week. Like ORmeds said though you need to mind the plants growing into the lights.

My current hydro set-up I change the res every 3 weeks. In between I check the PH and add water every few days, but it is basically it runs it self. Good for a week by itself easy.

Bottom line, research the methods and pick what works best for you knowing that any system can run fine for 2-3 days by itself.

This is what I'm doing...research. I'm asking for help. Isn't that the purpose of this forum??

My specific question is: What kind of setup would be best if you cannot tend to your garden daily?

It's good to know that any system can run fine for 2-3 days by itself. Now see, the plants running into the lights is something I never even remotely thought of. I was also thinking that a power outtage could potentially screw things up. This is the kind of stuff I need to know...I don't want to have to learn the hard way. If there is anyone out there that had dealt with this issue or knows of a journal that addresses it, please help me out...
