Is there ANY benefit to having the metal halide on while flowering?

Hi everyone..... I've looked all over the different forums and couldn't find a diffinitive answer.

I came up on these pretty nice light, hood and ballast set-ups... Made by SunSystems, they have BOTH a 400w metal halide bulb, and a 600w hps. The ballast can run either separately or simultaneusly with both bulbs burning. For now I'm vegging and just using the mh.... but when I switch to flowering, will the plants benefit what-so-ever by running them both, or is it a waste of power?

I guess another way to look at it is, has anyone ever fllowered using only cfl or mh, and no hps?

just a little update if anyone is still sub'd to my thread... I have everything vegging now under a single 400w MH, going to flower in about a week, and I'm thinking about putting both of of my dual system lights in there. being that I have 24 plants in 2 gallon pots, would it be smart to put both lights in there? or is one enough?

Right now I’m running a 400w HPS and a 10k 400w MH. The girls they seem to like it. I'm 24 days into flowering and just added the MH 2 days ago. I'm getting good cross over light because I mounted them pretty close together. I am thinking the more light the better! Why not?

Well DAMN.... thanks for all the good info everybody! Like I said I went ahead and put up both hoods and have just the Halide bulbs running for now, but I'm going to start flowering in a week and trim all the outside branches so that only a main cola will grow on each since it's in such a small space. Any tips or advice on how to prune these plants in the most ideal way??

*when should I cut all side branches?

*how long should I veg em after I trim the branches to make sure they are strong enough to withstand the shock?

*i need CO2 in a bad way, don't I?

thanks again to all you fellow chill ass gardeners!

*when should I cut all side branches?

==What I do when I just want main colas is trim all the side branching on day 1 of flowering and then again at about 7-10 days into flowering.

*how long should I veg em after I trim the branches to make sure they are strong enough to withstand the shock?

==different strains are more "shock resistant" than others, i've never really had an issue with plants getting shocked just from trimming off the lower/side branches.

*i need CO2 in a bad way, don't I?

==kinda depends on your temps, obviously there will be benefits to using it no matter what. If your temps are high, say above 82, then yeah i'd use it if you can. If you can't right now, just try to maintain temp and rh. Should be good.
