Is there a way to slow down the growth of a clone?

Multiply your 4 lights means you've hot an 8x2x2 area.

8ft long 2ft wide and 2ft of useable penetration.

32cu ft of useable light.

5x5x5 is still 125cu ft of usable light.

Anyway to the Q you asked.

As long as the clone being taken is a healthy node with at least 3 nodes to it then anywhere is fine.

Also something else to consider is that 250w MH bulbs produce 20,000 lumens. 20,000 lumens x4 MH lamps is 80,000 lumens for 1000w of light.

1000w MH put out 120,000 lumens

1000w HPS puts out 140,000 lumens.

Granted lumens is a way that we measure light by our eyes and plants react to certain nanometers and PAR output.

But I can't see how your 4x250's work better.

Sorry.

MH's are also the least efficient HID bulbs comparing light output vs wattage used.

I think the secret is in the side lighting myself, my grow area is in a circle shape and has double t5 lamps standing vertically all the way around the circle, I turn the plants a 1/2 turn every 3 days. on a side note the steroid swilling clone is chopped to half it's size and recloned haha. Just switched the fluros in cloning chamber to cool white and my damn bulbs are still not here to bud the other plants with................THE AGONY!

You could top the clones and start forcing them to bush this will stop the main upward growth and allow the lower branches to fill in then up buy you time and giving you more flower sites. Its known as topping or a super cropping variant.

This is good advice. Anything you can do to bush them out will benefit in the long run to have more top colas within the optimum lighting of your HID.

Sounds good to me, I had never topped one before. As long as I can slow it down til the others are done budding I'm good.

i have 2 Blueberry X northern-lights and 2 white rhino in my grow closet and the BN grow alot taller then my WR. when the BN get to tall i just find a good place on the stock that's getting too long, and a little over half way down i pinch it between my fingers evenly about an inch long on all sides until it's gets kind of tender. not hard enough to break the stock and cause it to bend (Super cropping) just so it's kind of soft and tender. this tends to cause a few things to happen : 1st off you slow down the growth of that stock because it has to repair the damaged tissue; 2nd you will notice a swelling where the pinching was done and possibly some discoloration, this is normal as the plant has sent more nutrients to that part of the plant, which eventually leads to more nutrients for your buds on that stock; 3rd it also helps to strengthen that stock allowing for heavier buds. Atleast that is MY understanding of how it works. GOOD LUCK!

What is the distance from your light to the plant?
The halides are about 8" away, the side lighting is about 2" away from outside edge of circle. The lights on the clones are about 2" away from the tops. Hey Danky McNugerson, thanks for the tip. Where are you in Washington? I live on San Juan island

Interesting, still trying to figure out how close I can get my 400's without burning the plants.

Are your light/s air cooled?
NO.

I used to use a 600w air cooled and that could get within an inch of the plants. Well actually the plants could touch it without burning but they suffered light bleaching.

I have an oscillating fan directly blowing over my canopy.

I tend to differentiate the position of my light depending upon plant growth.

Seedling for example I keep it around 2ft above.

Once I'm heavily flowering its about 6" until the last few weeks where I raise it up to around 10".

I have a temperature controlled fan speed controller at my ambient canopy keeping the area there at 23-24C.
