sorry, i've tried to figure out the answers to these questions but no luck.

please point me to a primer. i'm still trying to figure things like what the far left envelope things mean. why are they red or blue? why are some called stickies? why are some locked?

i'd also like to know how i know when somebody has replied to a thread i have, or a comment i have posted.

thanks!

if you go into my control panel, you can set it up so you see all responses to threads you posted in in my rollitup..
i forget how to find it, but if you click on the links at the top of any page, like my profile, or my rollitup, it will take you to your control panel..
give me a few and i'll figure it out for you.. brb..

btw, not sure what you mean by the envelope thingy..

ok, found it..
go to my rollitup at top of any page, click that.. new page, click on general settings, new page, i copy and pasted new page below..

Messaging & Notification
Receive Email:
Receive Email from Administrators
Receive Friendship Request Email
From time to time, the administrators and/or other members may want to send you email notifications or messages. If you do not want to receive email from certain people then you may disable the options here
Default Thread Subscription Mode:
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

click on the last one there, and select through my control panel.
this will make it so when you now click on my rollitup, all the threads you have posted in will show up here.. all the ones with new posts will be at the top of the list, and the ones no one has posted in will be below them..
this way you know which ones are active and which ones aren't..

ok, just saw the ? about stickies..
stickies are usually threads that were deemed worthy, very frequently asked questions with answers for example.. good information, tech's, etc, will all be stickied, and show up at the top of each sub forum first..
usually we try and tell new members to read the stickied threads first as they tend to answer a lot of basic questions people ask..

as for locked threads..
locked threads usually mean that the threads contain good information, but may have gotten derailed at some point and went off topic, so a mod will come in and lock the thread so no one else can post in it, but the information is still available to read vs say a thread delete, in which a mod will simply delete an entire thread and non mod's will no longer be able to even see the deleted threads..

threads are also sometimes locked for the reason that say the thread was simply an info thread or announcement from site admin, and wasn't meant to be posted in, it was simply put out for the info or announcement.. same as before, thread is stil viewable, just no one can post in it.

blue means new posts or regular threads red means a hot thread as in the thread has a lot of posts new and old

another question: so when i click on a subscribed thread in myrollitup it seems to put me at the beginning of the thread and then i have to work my way to the end of the thread. is there a way to go to the last post first and work back-words? i hope that makes sense.
