Is the idea of small government and states rights just dead?

America was built on the idea of a small federal government and strong rights of the states. Why in 2014 are we under the control of a huge federal government of control hungry liberal bureaucrats? I am an educated conservative, and i feel i am a dying breed in a society where liberalism has become the status quo. Why are modern day libertarians liberal? It makes no logical sense, a fundamental belief of libertarians is in small government, while liberalism is at its heart based on LIBERAL or LARGE government spending and control. Explain? Debate?

. this country on the idea of small federal gov't, but there has been a group of people that wanted america to be owned . check out the currency act of 1764 and the First Bank of the United States; we were poisoned almost from the very begining

That does not sound like what is happening, to me. So, just a page from the National Review? I marked the prose that makes me think you don't want an explanation. Nor are you in a mental position to understand it, seems to me.
