Happens man, especially with bag seed lol. I threw 7 in dirt a couple months ago and only 4 made the cut as ladies. I was told to expect about a 50% male rate in non-feminized seeds, and that number seems about right. I just went ahead and ponied up the money for some autoflower female seeds though so that way the money invested into everything else isnt wasted. Lets face it soil, lights, electricity, etc adds up so invest in a sure thing.

Do bag seeds have a different outcome percentage than "lab grade" non-feminized seeds?
In my (very limited) experience....yes. The two biggest differences, germination rates. You have a higher chance of success with them AND you have a better chance of not getting a hermie. Thats the positive difference, the negative difference...price. Bag seed is free (kinda) but you are rolling the dice on every aspect of the grow, like sex, genetics, herms, etc and sure you dont have some of those issues with lab seed...but your ass is gonna pay for it. So since you are paying a hefty toll why not pony up the couple extra bucks and grab some female auto seeds and simplify your grow man. Costs more up front but saves time and money on the back end.

Yah, I agree. I'll spend the 50 dollars all day just so I know what I'm getting. I just thought you were implying that bag seeds have a higher male rate but I read that wrong.

I’ve grown allot of bag seeds in my day .. I would say 95 percent were female .... I think most bagseeds are selfred and not intentional

Yeah exactly bagseed should be female every time unless it's some shitty outdoor that got pollinated by a different plant but then there would likely be a ton of seeds. The bag seed here and there just means the grower actually finished the plant.

Males happen regardless of source ... autos can throw males if line hasn’t fully been fleshed out.

Most breeders sling S1 over F1 as to keep seed chucking going. Any males i get i now keep to sling “ my own pollen “ . Bag seeds ( whether dispensary or swag ) sometimes are winners but it has to correlate to why and how it seeded. Some strains throw nanners late in the game for survival and those are keepers. But there are seed banks that of push bunk .
