Is my plant auto flowering?

I know Im a noob n all that but I've been trying to grow some kill for the last month. Pops got a tumor n shit n my lil bruh told me that we could make a cure wit a couple pounds of herb n alotta hardwork so Im growing it cuz bud in NY is way 2 much gwop. 1 a my homies grew a 6 foot plant in a hydroponic system last year n got like 2 lbs n thats what I wanted 2 do but Its only been 4 weeks and I'm seeing its a female plant which is great but its already flowering. the plant is about 16 inches, nowhere near 6 feet. My lighting system is ghetto no doubt, but I think it should get the job done. I got 4 65 watt cfls soft white n 3 fluoros, 2 4ft tubes, n 3 2 foot tubes (all cool white) together that total 125 watts grand total 385 watt fluoro lighting. I have a fan in the room for wind and the entire setup is covered in aluminum tent. The 2 foot tubes cover the sides of the pot and the 4 foot tubes are 6 inches above top of plant. the cfls are pointed diagnolly from the plant at the top of plant so the plant was supposed to get light from all angles. Grown in seed starting soil and transfered to a 5lb yogurt box (like a milk gallon). I never gave any fertilizer or nutrients, and gave it straight tap that was sitting for at least a day. I been doing mad reading so I know I overwatered in the beginning but now I know how 2 water. No real damage done. I mist the leaves every day or 2. Room temp is about 76 24/7 light cycle. I did try to switch to a 18-6 light cycle b4 i saw any pistils but I only did that one day. A couple days later I noticed pistils. Did I stress the plant by changing light cycle? I wanted to get at least a pound off the plant but its nt gonna b big enough. Is it autoflowering? Its cool that its female but thats not wat I had planned. Should I continue 24/7, or go 2 18/6 or 12/12? Should I start using bloom nutrients? The seed was from a ounce of some sharp, it was the only seed in the bag, n I know the bud was topshelf. Is it possible that the plant is both male n female? (I didnt c balls tho)I cant take pics i busted the lens on phone so plz answer as best as possible. If u wanna kno anything else Ill give details but I'm lost on why this happened.

no i dont think its autoflowering, its probably just showing preflowers, i would change the light cycle to 12/12.

Good for you for trying ghetto. BUT unfortunately nearly 400w of flouro's and cfls isn't gonna get you 2ibs in one grow.

Without seeing any pics of your plant it is very difficult to tell you whether it's flowering or just showing sex.

Your goal of 2lbs from a plant is somewhat ambitious to say the least. I grow using 600w HPS no ghetto in my room and I currently pull around 1lb every harvest from 4 plants that are 3ft tall.


It sounds like you think it's flowering, what gives you this assumption?

Can you see some pistils (white hairs) on the plant? This will just be an indication it's female.

Ya I can, theyre startin to surround the central stem, dnt c any grapes tho. Damn that means I gotta get the HPS. should I just get a 100w HPS n jus put all the fluoros on the side? I thought the angles I had would compensate. Also, does every strain have a height limit?

you can use the hps and flouros together. and i dont know what you mean by height limit.. and yes i would transplant it.

In order to grow 2lbs pretty easily (which it seems like you think it is) you would need around 1800-2000w of light and maybe 10plants, 15 plants to be sure.

100w HPS added to your existing lights would work better but still I think your max harvest would be around half a pound. Then you would more than likely need 2 plants to achieve it.

Most growers aim for anything from 1oz per plant up to approx 4 or 5oz a plant


What are you REALISTICALLY looking to get from this plant?

Ok. By height limit I mean can every plant get as tall as possible until you flower it (not talking about autoflowers), or will they automatically stop growing at a maximum height limit (each strain i wud guess has their own limit, i.e. sativas grow bigger than indica)? Also, should I wait to come across other seeds, which is very rare for me, or should I cop feminized seeds online?

I ddnt think it wud b 2 hard cuz my mans grew his wit little but he did have 2400 watt hps. He got 2 lbs off a 6-6.5 foot plant. SInce he got that much I was hoping for at least one but then I gotta get a 1000 watt hps. Thas cool I just gotta open the window more. Can any plant (not autoflower) get to 6 or 7 feet?

Also, if its preflowering, is it still in veg state so I can increase its height more? Or is the flowering stage shortly following n i shud switch 2 12/12?

Yes many plants given enough veg time can grow to 15ft etc.


There was an outdoor grow on here where the plants main stem was thicker than a guys leg lol.


If you are getting into the regions of a 1000w HPS then you need to start reading about grow room design.

Any HPS above a 400w comes with a shit ton of heat to deal with.

Pre flowering is still a veg phase. It just shows the plant is mature enough to flower.


With 400w of cfls and flouro's you should try and keep the plant small and bushy.



I personally would switch to 12/12

Ya but I'm here in NYC in the winter...When its cold its brick my dude. Any reason why you wud start the 12/12? I will now that u said it, Just curious..I know I need more plants, thinking of doing the grow room thing..itll actually reduce the hassle wit the smell. My plant already stink and theirs no bud on it. Its a good learning experience tho, kinda like learning a trade..this can always pay the bills!!!

Im def gonna grow a lot more in the summertime at my cuzzos scrib in long Island. Outdoors is alot simpler I heard, but the is the quality worse? Its gonna be outdoor in pots so no backyard soil (I was just reading about that on here). Gonna do like at least 10 plants just 2 play it safe. Come to think of it I may try backyard soil. My nigga got a mega backyard

O i get it..dont let it get 2 big cuz the fluoros thats y u wud flower now. but im gonna borrow those hps lamps, should i just get 1200w or 2400w? Or was it 800w or 1600w? Not sure gotta ask him.
