The BC government has declared mmj growers are a pharmaceutical industry and and will be taxed at a 90% higher rate than someone growing mushrooms. How can the federal government say that mmj is not considered a medicine and even refuse to give it a DIN, yet the province taxes producers the same as the makers of morphine? Is a farmer who grows corn to make ethanol for fuel now considered a petroleum industry?

Of course they are pharmaceutical, if it means 90% more taxes! That's what this is all about after all, precious tax revenue.

Yup, just more unnecessary overhead that will be passed along to patients. Ridiculous. Increased reporting costs, increased taxation costs, what's the next bright idea that municipalities/provinces/federal government have in store? This is just the beginning, and it all just ends up costing patients more to get their medicine at the end of the day, if they are able to get it at all.
