Hi got a bit of a squeeze in the tent at min with 8 plants will I gain more weight by say having 6 plants and them soaking more of the light than having 8 and it being tight ?? Just thinking for next time round thanks in advance

You need to squeeze at least 15 plants in there for maximum carbon monoxide flow. You'll net about 10 pounds of solid dry bud after 3 weeks
 
Depends on the size of the tent.

Your options seem to be either SOG or Scrog, look both up then decide which would seem easier to you as either can produce a respectable yield if done right.
