well, if you already have been using a 1000w mh, you may like "upgrading" to an led. That's what I did. But probably nothing today is going to beat that 1000w. For smaller applications however there is a great debate about the quality of light. Just anecdotal from watching and observing and comparing I would say led produces a much more usable form of light that the plants seem to love.

I really like my clw220, kind of expensive, $439 plus free shipping. It is super high quality and the plants love it, But I still can't tell just by observing what watt hid it would be comparable to. I would say 400w is pushing it a little, but I use to clone under a 250w mh and it beats the hell out of that.

I'm currently flowering a cut under 600W HPS that I flowered last time under two 400W Advanced LED panels. The LEDs produced very dense bud but the 600W is growing WAY bigger flowers.
I also run two 75W Area-51 LEDs in a small tent and I do not notice a drastic difference in bud density. Both the 150w and 800w LED grow some dense bud, comparable to HPS grows but just doesn't penetrate as deep into your canopy.
