is it to late to Hermie my girls for fem seeds??????

If feminized seeds were so terrible, why are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of feminized seeds sold each year?

Who said anything about feminized seeds being terrible?

I prefer to purchase mine for $20 an ounce.

Why are you buying it at all if using seeds from a stress induced hermie is the same?

Stress is free.

Silver is not.

Your actions don't mimic what you preach.

What are you talking about?

If you want to believe that stress can be passed on through genetics, that is your hot mess.
There are many reasons to use colloidal silver instead of "free stress." You can spray one branch and turn it while the rest of the plant stays the same. It is very predictable, cheap and easy. It works on all varieties the same, free stress does not.

Stress or colloidal silver, you are getting the same pollen.

A gram of silver is about 2 dollars.

Peace brothers, you're talking past each other.

Trousers, what I think he's saying is that if a plant is easily stressed by things like light variations to hermie than the decedents from that plant will also easily hermi do to light conditions when you don't want them to. That the use of colloidal silver to produce a hermie would produce a strain that was still resistant to hermie from light conditions. That it's pre-disposition to light induced stress that's being passed down, not the stress itself.

Blacksun, I agree with you in the theoretical but in the practical, you have to light stress the fuck out of them to get them to hermie. Professional breeders use colloidal silver because it is very reproduceable with a very high success rate, not because they don't want fem seeds descended from a light stressed hermie. The strain I grow today was caused by a stress induced hermie, in my case a power outage for two weeks in below freezing temperature. That strain is hardy as shit. My current mother is over two years old in the same pot. I've forgotten to water for days on end and my Hashberry/Lockdown will be the only one to recover.

It can take 2 months to hermi a female, and that's ONLY if the genetic is there for it to hermi. IF it is a PURE genetic female(which is very very rare), you can do whatever you want to with the light cycle it and it won't hermi.

i have found that if the seed comes from a herm. it doesnt really mean the seed will turn out to be a herm.... i did this with hawaiian snow. so far 100% female plants all theway to end

OK so I started some fem seeds and was planning on doing a winter grow in San Diego ca, but the weather took a turn for the worst and daytime temps are getting down to the 40s-50s kinda crazy for San Diego???? They have been flowering for 6-7 weeks and are 10-12 week strains. So my question is do I have time to stress them to the point of Hermie and let them pollinate themselves and each other in side a grow tent? And how should I stress them? Im trying with With a crazy light schedule right now. I'm going 12 on 5 off 3 on and 4 off. Will this do it? And how long does it take to show male sex organs? And how long to produce seeds? These were outdoor plants but brought them in when the weather got so cold. THESE PLANTS ARE VERY STUNTED , THEY ARE ABOUT 1 1/2 FT TALL BUT THE BUD SITES STOPPED GROWING.
personally id harvest majority of the plant and leave the rest there for growing the plant our again and hermie them then. that way u end up with a huge ass plant that would grow faster than some hydro plants due to its root mass that is already in plant.

really? how many seeds did you germ that turned out female?

Every cannabis plant has the ability to "hermi." Every female cannabis plant has the ability to "hermi."

IF it is a PURE genetic female(which is very very rare),
A pure genetic female? A female cannabis plant has two X chromosomes (unless it is a polyploid, which are rare).
A "pure genetic female" is not rare, it is very common. All "pure genetic females" have the ability to produce male flowers.

OK so I took 4 nice clones of the cheese and 2 of the OG kush#18. I was planning on taking 2 more off the kush but I couldn't find and good branches since its in week 7 of flower. But all 6 made it through the night so only time will tell!!! I have the all in oasis cubes that were soaked in a mild superthrive solution overnight, I used MG fast root powder and all are now in a humidity dome heated to between 80-85 degrees by a heating wire. Also I'm in the process of making collidial silver in to spray the 2 host plants. I'll update with any new info. Any advice or helpful info welcome!!!!!!!

Wow Trousers, read your own post for god sakes.

First you write: Every cannabis plant has the ability to "hermi." Every female cannabis plant has the ability to "hermi."

Then you write: A "pure genetic female" is not rare, it is very common. All "pure genetic females" have the ability to produce male flowers.

Sorry, you couldn't be MORE wrong. A single plant carries either a female gene, a male gene, or both.....

A PURE genetic female would not be able to hermi because it has NO MALE GENE TO HERMI. IT IS PURE FEMALE.

And as for getting a female from a HERMI seed, yes, no kidding? Really???? I bet if you bred one of those "females", your next crop or 2 on down the line, if you're starting your plants from seed, you will be asking yourself... "how come I have male flowers on SOME of my female plants?"....

There are environmental factors that you can play with in germination that will que certain genetics to help certain gene's "wake up" that will try to help the seed become a dominant genetic female, or a male, and with Hermis, it can go either way. Like a little nitro will stimulate the female genes, while higher phosphorous levels might bring out the male dominant. Yellow to red spectrum light is said to que up the male genetic, while blue ques the female.
Read the book Cannabis Grow Bible by Greg Green it will help you folks alleviate the majority of your anxieties when it comes to breeding and genetics. It is extremely informative, and is where ALL of my information is gleaned from, if you wish to argue further, I suggest you write Greg Green rather than sit here giving false and or wrong information and acting like an expert that YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY NOT!

Also what ppm should I shoot for when making the silver spray? 30ppm? 40? 50? Does anyone know?
PPM's are only relevant when using CS for human consumption, cook your CS for about 2 hours and it will be plenty strong enough to turn any plant. ;-)

A male gene is not required to hermie! creating males flowers is a biological process that happens; whereby creating male flowers with no male genetics only having feminized pollen.

Ok... so tell me geniuses if a male gene is not required then where the FUCK does the MALE FLOWER COME FROM? LOL!

"Creating male flowers is a biological procress"???? LOL!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Really... LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

When you use Colloidal Silver, you're altering the fucking gene of a female plant. You are literally retarding the genetic of the female.

Just like certain drugs in humans can alter their genes and hormones.

By the way, be VERY careful using Colloidal Silver, if handle improperly it can have EXTREMELY SEVERE toxic effects on the body.

you`re not changing the genetics with cs. and people drink the stuff so unless you have a huge concentration of it i don`t see how getting it on you is gonna hurt anything.

A cannabis plant will either have two X chromosomes which would make it female or an X and a Y chromosome which would make it male. All female cannabis plants have the ability to show male flowers with viable pollen. Stress usually forces the plant to show male flowers. It is natural and a built in survival mechanism.

That does not change the fact that a female cannabis plant has two X chromosomes.

A PURE genetic female would not be able to hermi because it has NO MALE GENE TO HERMI. IT IS PURE FEMALE.
Cannabis normally has imperfect flowers, with staminate "male" and pistillate "female" flowers occurring on separate plants.[SUP][11][/SUP] It is not unusual, however, for individual plants to bear both male and female flowers.[SUP][12][/SUP] Although monoecious plants are often referred to as "hermaphrodites," true hermaphrodites (which are less common) bear staminate and pistillate structures on individual flowers, whereas monoecious plants bear male and female flowers at different locations on the same plant.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis
What that is saying is that there are two different kinds of hermaphrodites. A true hermaphrodite will show both sexes from the beginning of flowering. Stressed hermaphrodites will show male flowers due to environmental conditions. To make feminized seeds we take advantage of this natural and normal phenomenon. Feminized seeds got a bad rap from bad growers stressing them.

And as for getting a female from a HERMI seed, yes, no kidding? Really???? I bet if you bred one of those "females", your next crop or 2 on down the line, if you're starting your plants from seed, you will be asking yourself... "how come I have male flowers on SOME of my female plants?"....
Not at all. I have produced thousands of feminized seeds using colloidal silver on true females. Every seed that has germinated produced a true female plant. I have not seen one male or any hermaphroditism of any kind.
Growers that do not know what they are doing stress plants. Stressed plants show male flowers. If you grow them properly, just like regular seeds, you will not get males or male flowers.

There are environmental factors that you can play with in germination that will que certain genetics to help certain gene's "wake up" that will try to help the seed become a dominant genetic female, or a male, and with Hermis, it can go either way.
That is absolutely not true. I have not found any solid evidence that seeds' sex is not predetermined. If a seed is going to produce a hermaphrodite, it can not go either way, it will be a hermaphrodite.

I have read a blog article that claims you can get more females if you set the environmental conditions correctly. I believed it for a while.

If you think about it, it doesn't make sense. It would make much more sense if the seed already has sex determined.

Properly made feminized seeds are 100% female. If environmental conditions played a role in sex determination, why are 100% of feminized seeds female? If you want to argue that feminized seeds tend to "hermie" more, I do not want to argue with you. Feminized seeds are nor more likely to "hermie" than their parents.

Like a little nitro will stimulate the female genes, while higher phosphorous levels might bring out the male dominant. Yellow to red spectrum light is said to que up the male genetic, while blue ques the female.
Do you have actual experience with this? I do not believe it. Thinking about feminized seeds, it does not make sense.

I would suggest you learn that even a book that has the term"bible" in it, can have misinformation. I do not like grow books, I prefer experience.

You obviously do not have any experience producing or properly growing feminized seeds.
If you would like to forward this to Greg Green, go right ahead. I would be happy to debate anyone on this subject.

If you would like to further debate this, I suggest you get some facts to back up your opinions and perhaps try to be more civil.

CAPS DO NOT MAKE YOU MORE CORRECT, IT IS LIKE YELLING.
