Is it safe to use an aquarium filter on my dwc system?

I have Jack's water soluble nutrients for my dwc system and was wondering if a simple, cheap aquarium filter would filter out the nutrients or cause any other negative effects?

Thanks. I just thought hey, cleaner water can't hurt. Just in case there happens to be light getting to the water, a filter could take care of any algae before it builds up.

I'm using purified water, thus little to none bacteria to be trapped and released into the water over time. This way, I never have to dump the tub and the water flow from the filters water fall exit would prevent anything building up on the bottom - slight water current helps, correct?

Fish tank filters won't prevent algae.

Also, the carbon in the filter would absorb too many things that your plant needs to use.
