i cut my plant today right at the bottom of the stem and its not too big so my friend said the best thing would be to let it dry for 7 days and then start trimming it. but ive always seen people trim the plant first then dry it. does this matter? and any tips on how long to dry it for?

You can do it either way but I find it easier to trim first. To me it seems to trim faster and with better results.

good luck

It is far easier to do once you chop... but, this only really plays out if you have a shit load (several elbows). Otherwise, leave them on there as it will S L O W your dry time by a good day or two, which makes it smoke smoother. Then jar cure & enjoy the results. Peace.

Trim them now. The more they dry the more the sugar leaves get stickied up in the rest of the bud and become impossible to trim, or take 4 times as long.
