Is it ok to touch the buds in flowering???

I was just wondering if it was ok to touch the flowering buds? I sometimes touch them when I am LSTing the plant and Sometimes I touch them just to check the firmness and feel how sticky they are getting. Does this effect the plant at all? Will pushing down on the little hairs (The Pistils I think they are called) do any damage? This is my first grow and im in there like every 5 minutes. I just dont want to do anything that I will regret!!

Don't touch them unless you absolutely have to. Every time you do, you burst some of the trichomes, and the good stuff that was in them just evaporates in the air!

If you ever squeeze the buds, your actually doing a lot of damage to them, sometimes they heal over, sometimes they dont. The general rule is Don't touch the flowers unless you absolutely have to.


Dont be hasty, waiting makes them tasty.

just think of the buds as a really delicate flower or piece of fruit. every time you touch it a bruise will appear and you will squish some trichomes... patience is the way to go with your flowers. they will treat you right in the end if you treat them right throughout their lives

Damn glad I asked. I did notice that one of the buds I squeezed Acouple of days ago has red hairs now instead of white and I know it isnt ready for harvest. Was that because I messed with it?

Hard to say, could be. How far in are you? I think they start turning colors anywhere from 3-6 weeks into flowering. But then it could be, so now ya know, no squeezing the charmin!

Yeah I am 5 weeks in flowering so maybe its natural. I will not be messing with the buds anymore I promise!!

dude, no. why? use latex, wrap it up!!!!!

you can brush up against them when moving stuff but just dont squeeze them and you will be good

To late I already squeezed some but I wont be doing that anymore.

dont make a habit of it but before the days of microscopes, i would use bud density along with a certain look has a guage of when to harvest. i learned this from the dutch

glad i read this before my kush starts flowering

so glad i found this thread... i love touching it, giving 'em a squeeze and a stroke.. pulling and pushing... all that fun stuff.... and now growing just got that much more frustrating!!!

i always touch just a small sugar leaf if i am trying to get a nice smell, i would assume that is why your squeezing your buds, but like i said if you HAVE TO TOUCH dont touch any or the bud, and pick the furthest leaf away , i am not suggesting to even do this but i do like to get a nice smell from now and then....as far as the part turning red..did you Crush the hairs? usually if they turn red they are drying but im not sure it could just be your plant, ONE LOVE! and good luck!!!!!!!!!!

as said above it's a no on the bud squeezing. if you want to get a little sniff, then give the main stem a little rub down then smell your finger. lol

^^^ That's what I do. You get a nice smell with no damage to your plant.
