Not true....read the directions, resist the urge to over feed, watch your plant. while i do not use MG it is a totally viable option for growers on a budget.
I agree. Just start off weak and work you way up so you know what your plant likes. Read the directions and start off with 1/4 of a dose. Also they wont need any nutes for like 3-4 weeks after they germ, so don't give them nutes to early or you will burn them even if it's a low dose; or you could cause toxicity.

ya when growing with cfl's you can get an amazing yeild. dont let anyone tell you otherwise. i would top the thing first, and then start some LST for 3 or 4 weeks. then put her in flower.

Don't sweat it, you're good! My first grow was a CFL set-up with Miracle Grow, and I got nearly 3 ounces. I had NO problems except my pots were small and I had one little root bound bitch going, but she survived.

Don't listen to the negatives, just take the positives in what you're doing and TRY it. If you have time and a little money, experimenting is a fun way to grow.

You may even find your OWN system that works well.

Keep on, sounds good!

If you are going to use Miracle Gro soil, i would suggest using the Miracle Gro Organic, it isnt pumped with synthetic time release nutes and wont burn the plants. When you say you use 100w bulbs, I assume that you are using the 23w bulbs that are the equivalent off 100w. If thats the case go with a 150w hps if you can afford it(or as big of one as u can afford). the cfls put off ~ 1100 lumens * 6 = 6600 lumens for 138 watts of power, http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-HTGSupply-150-watt-High-Pressure-Sodium-Grow-Light.asp. This has 16000 lumens for 150 watts of power, so thats almost 10000 more lumens for just 12 extra watts power. Cfls are ok, but not optimum. You will MORE than pay for the HPS after just one grow with it. And you will then be like me, and say I cant believe i ever used CFLs( I only use 1000 watters now lol).

I certainly didn't mean to imply that good results weren't possible with MG. I've just never been able to get the dose right I guess.
Seemed like it was always too much or too little and I kept getting micronutrient deficiencies.

Well I use a 200w or 250w cfl and get pretty good results. You can actually get proper cfl grow lights now instead of using loads of little 23w curly bulbs, they are massive ha ha ha.

Thanks for all the replies I will take all of them into consideration and I think i will use a small amount of 8-8-8 fertilizer in the next few weeks and i will change out the lights as well and should i get a fan? the temperature in my room stays about 75 degrees all the time and i open my closet regularly to exchange air.
