Is it Necessary for Non-Smokers to Go Through the Bud Curing Process?

I have a question: Is it necessary, if you never smoke, to cure marijuana? Might you cure it differently?

Assuming that I'm just growing for personal use, which I am, do I really need to go through the whole process of evenly drying the plant?

I consume and bake it into brownies because I have pretty bad asthma that kicks in if I smoke or even vaporize.

Thanks in advance...

a cannaboid chemical in the plants is converted to thc as it drys and cures, but if ur making brownies i dont think i'd worry about it to much.

you should try to water cure, takes just a week and i think would work great for cooking with.
its in the FAQ

Much of the curing process is done for flavor and smoothness but the herb doesn't fully ripen until it's cured, meaning that it hasn't reached its full potency if you do a cursory drying and immediately bake with. Can't really say how much of a differential we're talking about here, I just know that the stuff I smoke that's only been cured for a couple of weeks isn't as strong as the same stuff with a solid month of curing. I think six weeks is the sweet spot for me. I'm too fucking impatient to do the 2-3 months that some people suggest.

Curing doesn't only improve quality and taste, it increases potency by activating more THC. I would do a standard cure even if you plan on cooking with it.

It looks like there are some mixed opinions here. A standard curing process seems like it might work out. What do others think about the suggestion above that I try water curing? What have others' luck been with this?

Also, does water curing leave the other cannibinoids that make marijuana so fun? I mean, THC isn't the -only- chemical in the buds that I'm after. Would water curing leave the awesome other cannibinoids and chems in the buds that aren't THC?

Also, does water-curing allow for the THC to become active in the same way that air-drying and curing does? Does it happen in the water?

I don't think any cannabinoids are soluble in water, THC and CBD aren't, not sure about others.

Water curing increases the potency by % weight, but it doesn't make the actual bud stronger compared to air curing, if that makes sense.

Basically, all the chemical nasties you don't want to be smoking if you didn't flush, and all the undesirable organic compounds dissolve in the water. Chlorophyll for example.

Water curing is best for personal use, and it looks like that's what you want, so go for it. If you want any more info on how to water cure, either search for threads or PM me, i'll be more than happy to help.

Thank you, Anon. I'll likely take you up on that offer for help when it comes time.

I figure you just put the buds in water, change the water out every day for a week, then dehydrate the buds, right? Pretty simple procedure.....

Unless there's (as per usual around here) WAYYY more to it than that..

And I thought I was getting into something easy with this plant.....

just remember, no light, and the water needs to be able to evaporate.
also the bud floats for the first couple days so you have to weigh it down, i used a strainer.

Thanks. It just occurred to me... Could you add flavoring of any kind to the water curing process?

try making a butter with the bud but im sure that just gets the thc out i havent tried it myself just a idea
butter is key. you dnt have to cure to make hash or butter hang it for like 5 days if you want but wet is cool too. check the grow faq on cannabutter and do it than use butter in brownies or whatever, ive made buffalo sauce, creamy blue cheez bacon sauce over chicken and all sorts of crazy foods. ive made a lot of butter and a lot of hash with fresh uncured trim and bud.... it works....
