Is it necesary to start in small pots?

I just popped a few seeds. They are feminized. Is there an advantage to starting in small pots or is it okay to just go ahead and put them in 3 gallon pots?

I can see why people use small pots if they may be only selecting a few plants from many that they start, but with the price of seeds I grow out every one that I pop.

I would make sure the area in the center is flushed soil so it's not too hot for seedlings.

You can grow 'em in any sized pot you want. Most start with smaller pots due to lack of space in the veg area.

If you go with a 3 gal pot keep in mind that growth above the soil will stall as the plant's tap-root looks for the bottom of the pot....but it's no big deal as once it does it will blast off from that point forward. I've played around comparing growth between starting plants in small and large containers and within 4 weeks they're at the same point in growth.
