Hey,

I was wondering if it is hard to find a job in a legal grow op in California. I love working with plants and need that type of job. I got lot of experience with plants and i would like to know if its an option. If so, hows the salary?

nah man we need all the mexicans that can make it across the border to pick fruit. come on out with the other 600,000 per year and see if you can get you a jobby job.

The "grass" isn't greener in Calif, or CO for that matter. If you want to work in the plant industry, get a job in a garden center that values it's employees. Do the other as a hobby or "side job" to supplement your income.

A sidebar....... I worked in an upper management position for a large garden center chain on the east coast and 60% of the work force was seasonal Mexicans that would come to the U.S. 7-8 months a year and then go back home until next year. Basically, same group of guys almost every year. They loved the heat, and worked like dogs for little money. Couldn't speak a lick of English. But they were pleasant enough to be invited back and kept the business very profitable.

LOL you think aforementioned Mexicans would pass this "huge cannabis industry?" Think they just prefer growing mota in our state and national parks for the scenery?

Not sure, this is why i ask. Here in Canada its different. I was wondering how it is in Cali. Here the Cannabis industry = Illegal so its a no-go. Sadly this is all i enjoy. I was born to work with plants. Its more than a hobby for me, its my life.

yes its hard, cali is flooded with so much weed, add that with the fact WA is legal and will become flooded as well meaning price drop there that will be felt in cali when it gets more flooded with new weed. the legal will bring about new strains and more potent weed. our kids will be smoking 30% thc weed or more.

Those words and thoughts are a great motivator to consider working for yourself, screw working for someone else, you have most of the necessary ingredients for success on your own...think big

why is one plant better than the other?
Im not getting your logic. however i think you need to "wake up and smell the coffee" if you think youre gunna move from canada to usa (which isnt that easier to get citizenship hope you have a lot of money saved up) and go to cali and work for a giant grow op youre dreaming.

I have a good amount of money saved up with all the years saving. I do not wish to work for a giant grow op. Just a simple grow op could do it. I want to work for something legal. Wake up in the morning doing what i love and going to bed knowing i had a very good day doing what i enjoy.

I do not mind bout having a huge / small salary. I asked bout salary to know if it could be enough to cover rents.

The feeling i get for working and taking care of plants is big. Dont know why i am like this but i love dealing with them. Watching them grow, react to the way i handle and all the love i give them. The difference with strains. Their odor , their look.

I haven't got a direct answer to the OP question but I'll say this. Don't give up on your dreams ever. I work in the industry and would not have the same privileges in my own country. Where there's a will, there's a way. :)

You don't get why he would rather grow cannabis over vegetables... uuuum. Maybe because the cannabis plant is awesome, looks awesome and smells awesome. Maybe that's why. Don't listen to this negative bullshit man, like the dude above says, don't give up on your dreams, cannabis farms do exist, so if you reaaaaaallly want it, try and make some contacts and go from there. It certainly won't jump into your lap, and will be a lot harder to get than even a regular job..but if you know the right people why not. See if you can get work as a trimmer first and then use that as a stepping stone .. it's unlikely major ops are gonna trust you with the gardening aspect of it unless they know you, but trimming the stuff is something that you could get in at 'entry level'

ok... the " living in a dream " part I thought you were being negative. But your right, proper planning always. That's what i'm saying make some friends ,see if he can get work trimming buds.. then go.. then try and work up to gardening. wouldn't it be amazing though to just cross the border to sunshine puppies and rainbows..

So what you're saying is he should come down from Canada, and meet up with all his connects he's built up from his years of posting his quality work on riu, icmag etc, to trim for 5 grams of bud a day? Hope he's happy sleeping in the tent..

Tent? Yes.

5 grams of bud a day? Lol... what? I've been offered trimming jobs a lot... never been offered to be paid in weed, and the offered cash was a hell of a lot more than 5g/day.

Last year my buddy went to a trim camp for a month and came back with somewhere between $6K-7K.

Like most people have said though, especially in Northern Cali, there's you and 500,000 other people trying to get a job trimming. If you don't already know somebody, you have next to no chance of landing a trim job.

And it doesn't matter if you know how to grow, you don't walk into an operation as the CEO. The earlier poster was 100% correct that you should seek an 'entry-level' position, which, in this industry, is pretty much trimming.

There is no "industry" in the way you are thinking of. Maybe in cloning as they are stand alone store fronts for the most part still. The grows are hidden and not common knowledge. None of us advertise our grows and we don't go looking for strangers to hire and hope it works out. That isn't the way it works. U either know people that you can grow with or for or someone introduces u and u get in that way. Only guys that would hire someone they don't know and have no relationship with is if that guy plans on screwing them anyway or the guy doing the hiring is a total idiot. The best way to get into the "industry" is to grow superior weed. Grow great weed for yourself consistently for a few years and you may attract enough attention to get a larger opportunity to work with someone else. That is about the only way to do it.. Start out doing your grow alone and grow better weed than most of the others out there and you will get an offer. If you aren't capable of growing better weed than most of the people out here you won't and shouldn't get a job in the "industry".. good luck...

Well if I stay here, I'll turn into an old graveyard ghost! That's all I am!

I heard the people was paying $2 a day for peach pickers out Californy way.

I reckon if I stay where I'm at, they'll just turn me mean.... real mean ma.....

I grow the best weed I've ever seen or had and this is only my 5th or so grow. But I'm leaps and bounds beyond anything I've seen around me. But as with most success I've done it on the shoulders of giants.
