Is it bad to put outdoors in sun for half of the day?

And inside under cfl lights for the rest of the day?

I'm just wondering if it shocks the plant in some way because the change of types of lighting and temperatures and stuff.

Thanks

ive seen it done where a guy planted early in april outdoors in a greenhouse, then b/c the days are too short in april (norcal), they will begin to early flower, so he just threw in some cfl's, not a whole lot either, just enogh to light the place up for the plants and the plants got enough light to stay in flower

that a cool idea but the guy was a pro and said he'd been doin it for years, if you want big plants though id veg indoor til about mid june then transplant in double or even triple the size of the og container it was in and from june-july the plant will double or triple in size, this is all norcal weather of course

Thanks for the response.

I have been putting my plant outdoors during the day and then once the sun starts to go down I bring it back inside under cfls. I haven't had any problems yet and the only reason I do it is because I thought it would benefit the plant to get some genuine sun light for half the day or so, but I question if the plant gets confused with all of the light and temp. change. And I have only tried it for a couple days.

Watch out for Bugs

Taking a plant out doors will enable critters to access the plant and then come in on it to your indoor grow!

the simple answer is yes you can alternate, actually if you plan on putting the plant outside it is a good idea to introduce it to as much outside weather (little at a time and progressivly let it stay out longer) this is a method called hardening off, it is required for a transition from indoor to outdoor.

yes, i know people who rotate their plants daily. from cfls at night to outside in full sun for the day is best. after a few clear sunny days u will notice a definate difference in a plant. all good

i start all my outdoor plants in april in a greenhouse and i never have re flowering problems been doing it all my life. if you click on my current grow you will see some pics in side of all my plants that i am putting in a greenhouse, i started them a couple months ago and they all will put off pounds per plant at least 5.

and i have moved plants from under t5 s to the sun back and forth for months with mother plants and NEVER have had issues of any sort

Just a fyi to anyone who might read this in the future. Every time I put my clone outside in the sun which is anywhere from 85 - 95 degrees in the past couple days, within about 20 minutes all of the fan leaves and most of the branches will all start drooping. The first day I thought it was because it was kind of windy but there is no wind today and the same thing happen. I'm not sure if the heat is just too much or if its the shock of being transferred from my cfl lights to the sunlight and the change in temps.

i've seen that happen when the youg plant's roots are not large enough to support the additional hydration of being outside. GL

I'm doing the exact same thing the op is doing and its been working very well. I'm running 12/12, my plant gets 11 hours of direct sunlight "from my windows, so no pests" then for the last hour I put it under three 23 wat cfls. Then lights out for 12 hours in my closet.
