Is indoor bud actually better than outdoor?

People pay more for indoor because, it actually cost a good bit of money to produce, and if your under the impression that you pay more because its better, your just stupid. Another big reason outdoors so cheap, is theres so fucking much of it, when these growers are averaging 2,3,4, and ,5 lb plants, you can bet theres a shit ton come harvest time, and if you wont accept their 1000- 1200/ lb offer than the next guy will. Its supply and demand, and basic economics, nothing to do with potency.

I usually wouldn`t interject in a discussion like this one ... but the question is flawed from the beginning, no wonder there`s serious banter going on in here. The difference is in the genetics, C99 indoors will be the same C99 grown outdoors ... only differences being that indoor plants often have the advantage of being in a perfectly controlled environment, whereas outdoor plants have to take what nature gives them (although the sun is better than any HID we can get).
Also, outdoor greens can easily fetch the same price (or close) to indoors in my area as the quality is there. I could put up two pictures of indentical plants, one inside, one outside, and I bet most would be hard pressed to tell the difference in the final product. My patients are comfortable paying the same for my indoors as my outdoors as they know the genetics will be as advertised and the potency will be there ... or I wouldn`t do it all outside, and neither would anyone else ...
Just my 2, enjoy your greens, worry about the effort put in and the reward to follow as opposed to best-possible scenario

Outdoors is hands down more potent than indoors. As long as you have decent conditions outdoors. There is no light on the market that can come close to the power of the sun.

I agree, but genetics are still the key ingredient. Can`t grow great product from shitty genetics. Everything else is an afterthought or should be to that. Otherwise, no competing with the Sun

I dont personally pay more...because I grow...all my weed is free.
but I have taken the same exact seeds and simultaneously grown one outside and one inside..
both were dank as fuck
outdoor yielded higher...with light fluffy buds
indoor yielded a tad less, but the buds were HUGE and dense as a rock. and yes...MORE potent.
SOME outdoor conditions I suppose would knock the crap out of indoor...
but you would have to be someplace like Hawaii or Cali and have a VERY controlled setup.
there are simply too many variables to tell every grower on here that outdoor will give you better quality than indoor
because some poor shmuck in New Jersey will go turn off his 1000W MH and stick his plant on the roof balcony and then come crying back when his shit is weak and light.
on average... indoor will always be better.
because it's taken better care of..it's conditions are monitored, controlled and are pumping more into the plant than nature can...
like a 20/4 light cycle......

Hey man I'm not trying to question your growing or anything like that in the least, but don't think that just because something cost more that it's automatically better. Compost tea is significantly cheaper than chemicals yet a lot of people prefer to use them. Don't get me wrong, the expression you get what you pay for is very very true, but at the same time just because something cost lots of money doesn't mean it's good. I've had $35/8th strains that destroyed what some people were selling for $60/8th.
The stone cold truth right here, very wise quote right here. You really can't beat the sun, these plants are programed to be outdoors under direct sunlight. Indoor and outdoor are completely different worlds, just started indoor recently and it took me a long time to finally get my temps right and my yield suffered as a result. Outdoors temp control is easy, even in SoCal, you just water more than once a day and if need be use a greenhouse (I don't anymore but that's another story). Competing against caterpillars can be pretty damn tough though, one moth is capable of so much damage. But fortunately, if you have quality genetics and they're grown outdoors with minimal stress you should be fine, the blue dream I grew outdoors last year was amazing. Although it's very true it doesn't compare to some quality indoor I've had, some dispenaries thought my outdoor Blue Dream was so good they were charging $50 an eighth for it until I told them that was fucked up and to stop that or I'd cut them off.
All things considered though it's hard to say what's better because what's better depends on your preference. Some people only care about potency and nothing else, others just want the taste and if they have to smoke more then oh well right?
Of course indoor is going to be better than outdoor for the most part, but if you think that ALL outdoor is swag then you're quite mistaken. I can and choose to do both because I figure it's a waste to not do it you know?

I have smoked really strong and tasty buds from both indoor and outdoor grows but in most cases indoor is better. I have grown outdoors and indoors and all I can say is my outdoor setup is no more and I am fully invested in my indoor setup. I just like the control on the indoor setup, constant conditions that you can control such as temp, lighting, water, nutes and no raining on the plants. Then there is also the control of the stages of the plants growth which is much easier to do with artificial lighting. You can veg the plant forever or flower it really early on. Oh yeah and not to mention the constant stress of worrying about your outside plants getting seen by unwanted eyes of any kind and either have a loud knock on the front door or you plants disappear on you one day.

and I'll always throw a few plants outside every season...
but all my time and $ goes into the indoor setup..
it's really become more than just 'growing weed' to me now..
it's so much fun and so rewarding.
the highs and lows of learning about nutes and all the little variables that all the old timers have down pat.
I've learned so much more than I ever thought I would...
and look back and see how fucking dumb I was with a seed and a 65W Gro Bulb from the hardware store...and see how far I've come

but see... with indoor you get UNNATURALLY potent weed... because you can keep your lights on as long as you want and pump more CO2 into them then nature could ever dream....

i think alot of confusion to outdoor/indoor thinking an prices is cause how they treat weed after its done growing...
most just throw it around and trim like shit cause so much of it ect... i see outdoor bud and its always dry as hell with very small smell. put inside a jar with lettuce and it comes back to life.
more when growing outdoor and less effort into curing and drying so why not just sell alittle cheaper. outdoor always been cheaper. never know is you get seeds everynow an then or smell like crap and dry like dust.
indoor is guarenteed soft nice nugs, smell is strong and just overall better LOOKING. yes i said LOOKING, because alot of people LOOK at appearance and smell to decide if its acceptable. even if smoking only 'ok' they still say its fire stuff.

If your indoor only yielded a tad less, then you fucked up. Any photo period outdoor, given you know what your doing, will easily ATLEAST, double your indoor yield. Im willing to bet you have very little outdoor grow experience, and that is the reason you considered your outdoor inferior. And indoor pumping more into the plant? Do you have any idea how lumens the sun puts out compared to your 1000w HPS? put your plant under your 20/4 cycle, for a month, and Ill bet anything I put out in the sun after memorial day will far out grow your plants in a month, even with your extra 5 hrs

tad was an understatement... a bit facetious perhaps ... my outdoor yields a TON more in weight...
even has a better smell..
but the indoor gets me higher, longer...and the nuggs are dense as a rock...
and yes..I do know the lumen level of the sun where I live... I bust out the lux meter on everything now...
(ppm and ph meters too...for that matter)
I've also read several studies to back my claims...
many growers have done side by side grows of the same strain and sent both indoor and outdoor samples to the lab...
indoor had more cannabinoids..... every...time....
again, to repeat myself to death....
I love my outdoor weed...but I'm just stating the results of the research I've done..
I dont by any means think I am the 'go to' source on the subject...as I feel I am barely a toddler in the grow world.
but all my puffing and research into people that have laboratory tested the weed from their grows, leads me to believe that indoor wins that battle...
as unnatural as it may be....
