Even worse Thanks for clarifying. He doesn't need to get elected in his riding of choice. If he ran and lost his riding he can replace another conservative in any riding. No limits for how long PMs can run...
No. The election MUST be held within 5 years. I think there is a clause regarding times of war, which may be his agenda, but that would only prolong the inevitable and doom the CON party to distinction. Can he fuck with the election date....as in prorogueing parliament?
Well sad thing is we will be in billions of debt no matter who is elected. The only reason Harper got elected was the not enough people trusted the Ndp to not run the country into some communist commune. The libs were unelectable. They've gotten past that now. Lots of fresh young faces. A charismatic leader with strong family ties to canada political past. I predict most of the normal lib voters who voted Ndp or con last time will be back voting lib this time. And the pot/ environment is a huge factor in getting young voters out. Nothing Harper is selling speaks to people under 40. The people who always vote the same party no matter what will continue to support their party. Everyone one who actually cares about the issues will be more drawn to the libs this time imo. I still only see a lib minorty gov.I think/hope the Canadian people are done with this ass clown and his illusion of a transparent government. Our defficet can't handle another term of Harper and his personal ajenda. Billions in debt!!!
Peace
I disagree. It would mean backdoor decriminalization. They couldn't pass a bill changing the law but they can decide eliminate funding the war on weed. Sort of like the Netherlands where there is a law on the books it's just not enforced. But a minority would suck probably just as much because nothing will move on the mj front....we need a majority even if they just squeak by.
Don't be so sure of this...I voted Conservative all my life, switched to Green last election and will be voting Liberal in 2015.The people who always vote the same party no matter what will continue to support their party.
But you don't seem like the kind of person who votes one party just because. Like you say you're not voting con this time because they don't suit your current needs/beliefs. I am sure the longer the legalization bill spends in the house and senate the better off we all will be. Grow your own, no tax, no big pharma/tobbaco until the bill passes. Sounds like heaven that could reasonably happen next year. And last for a few years till the dust settles.Don't be so sure of this...I voted Conservative all my life, switched to Green last election and will be voting Liberal in 2015.
We can all help....we need to get the young to vote....we have to get them off their ass and vote.
Even with a majority, changes have to get through the Senate which is Conservative.
Nooooooooo....conservative and a leaf fan? Say it ain't so! JkDon't be so sure of this...I voted Conservative all my life, switched to Green last election and will be voting Liberal in 2015.

While a lib majority would be preferable, a minority wouldn't be the end of the world. The ndp support decrim officially and I suspect they ' secretly' favour legalization and are just trying to avoid the criticism and ridicule from the uneducated prohibitionists that JT and the libs are getting. I'm not so sure the senate will be a brick wall. lib or CON. I found this about a 2002 senate study...But a minority would suck probably just as much because nothing will move on the mj front....we need a majority even if they just squeak by.
I read this story last night, it's about time and the last thing Der Fuhrer needs right now. I suspect this is just the beginning- the vets announced an organized effort to turf Steve. He's pissed a lot of people off, but more importantly, he has intelligent people worried about the state of our democracy. Think we can convince them (scientists) to release the studies on marijuana that we are told have never been carried out? This is sweet...

OTTAWA - The union representing scientists and other professionals in the federal public service is abandoning its tradition of neutrality in elections to actively campaign against Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) says delegates to its annual general meeting have agreed the union should be more politically active heading into next year's federal election.
In particular, delegates have agreed that the union should energetically expose the damage they believe the Harper government has done to federal public services.
Members of the union have complained bitterly about what they claim is the muzzling of federal scientists and political interference with their work.
The union, which represents some 55,000 professionals in the public service, has traditionally chosen to stay at arm's length from elections.
But union president Debi Daviau says the government's war on labour unions and its cuts to public service jobs have forced a change in strategy.
"Extraordinary times call for extraordinary actions," Daviau said in a written statement Friday.
"This government has forced non-partisan organizations such as ours to make a very difficult choice: to remain silent or to speak out. We have chosen to speak out."
Daviau cited several controversial bills as proof that the government has targeted "the very existence of unions and collective bargaining."
A survey commissioned by the union last year found hundreds of scientists who claimed they had been asked to exclude or alter information in government documents for non-scientific reasons. And thousands more said they'd been prevented from talking freely about their work with the media or the public.
"Canadians deserve to know the damage this government is inflicting —unnecessarily and often underhandedly — to their services, their programs and even to their democracy," Daviau said.
Yes...definitely need the under-thirty's out to vote in this election. I have two sons in their 20's who have never voted and neither have their girlfriends. Those are the people who are going to change things if we can get them interested. The older generation will vote as they always have. My dad is a vet, was a career soldier and is president of a Legion...and he's still voting Harper! He would not vote for Trudeau if it were the only name on the ballot! I'm thinking of having him declared mentally incompetent or something.....The government she be falling apart....we absolutely need those 18-24yr. olds to get the fuck off their asses and make a difference. I'm kinda of on the anyone but the
Conservatives train.
