We know man has existed for around 150,000 years, and we also know that the oldest worship of the Jewish god Jehovah began sometime around 1400 BCE. Before then, humans had no way of knowing about the Abrahamic god. It's said that if you do not believe in or worship him, you will burn in hell for eternity. Does that mean that everyone who died before anyone even knew about the existence of this god is now burning in hell?

Yep they are fucked. Makes perfect sense doesn't it??????????

Keep questioning. It's why God gave you the ability to do so.

I'm well aware of why this is nonsense, but I'm interested in hearing some devout Christians' explanations and/or ideas in relation to this.

I don't believe so, if you have read the bible you would know god has a sense of reason he admits he was wrong and changes it. He thought humans were evil but then saw how good they were. So when a caveman dies he meets god and god sees his heart (not literally) and knows he either means good or bad. You have to understand though that the bible was written by man and could have changed the scriptures so you should know that no human knows who goes to hell or not. I believe they have the same chances we have.

Im 99% sure according to scripture that when Jesus was killed on the cross he went to hades where everyone went who died through the ages, even upstanding people bexause everyone falls short of thw glory of God. He preached for 3 days (in "hell") and those that accepted him as king and eternal ruler ascended to heaven with him.

God has never been wrong, according to the stories He gives us He wants us to petition Him for his favor and nothing is fated to us because His knowledge and power knows not the limits of time or anythig else.

According to whom?Who personaly witnesses christ going to hades and preaching for 3 days?Imagination is sometimes so very terrible.....and contagious and confused as"visions".You cant know, no one can,u may imagine it though. It is total crock to think that every man, woman or child would go to hell, for never hearing of the gospel or Jesus. Its extreme in its thought and principle, though i would be inclined to believe that an all understanding creator would judge fairly of the hearts content and not by the fearful standards of the human mind that would include the insane idea aforementioned here.

But the bible is "infallible"..... and those that do not accept Jesus as their personal lord and savior shall burn in eternal torment.

there once existed limbo, a place of rest for all those unbaptized babies and virtuous pagans who had never experienced the word of god. a while back the catholic church discontinued limbo. i guess they figured everyone had access to a bible these days and the babies could fend for themselves. i'm not quite sure what happened to the residents of limbo. i certainly hope they were promoted or at least given a chance at paradise. maybe some sort of lottery or a roll of the dice.

In the Mormon version, that would be a no. Hence the Baptism for the dead rituals we do in our temples. In our doctrine, everyone will have the chance to accept or reject Christ. Mormons have gone back as far as possible in recorded history to get names to do proxy baptism for the dead. Not everyone will be taken care of before the second coming. That's why we will have a thousand years of peace so we can continue the work. Then Satan will be unleashed once again where he will finally be cast down to Outer Darkness (have no idea what that is) and we will be forever living on clouds and farting marshmallows. :p

Do you realize that by definition a god is 'all knowing' and 'all powerful,' right? Therefore, to admit that God could have been wrong about something would actually completely take this "God" out of the realm of actually being a god.
