Is compost tea effective in coco?

I was wondering about the effectiveness of a tea drench once a week in coco. I have been doing this and my plants are very healthy but being that there are nutrients constantly being ran through the medium daily with plenty of runoff, I'm wondering if there's even any benefit to the tea? I was told by someone that teas are geared towards soil and it's pointless in coco, so I just wanted to get some opinions.

Are you using chemical or organic nutrients?

Lets just say compost teas will provide the most benefit in a soil system, where conditions are ideal for the microbes to establish themselves and reproduce in the medium. Pouring teas over coco certainly shouldn't cause any issues, in fact it will likely help by supplying humic and fulvic acids, amino acids, and low levels of an array of nutrients and growth enhancing substances. You just won't get quite as much benefit from the microbiology still living in the tea, since your medium doesn't have any humus to sustain the microbes.

Yep.

It depends.

I do not think tea is bad at all. The microbes might not be able to survive though.
I'm pretty sure that microbes can't survive in coco when the lucas formula is used.

Like spicy said, it should be beneficial.

Ive tried, ive failed (for my standards)

Had to use lots of cal mag, and at one point i was PHing my teas which was a no no. So my awnser is no teas wont work in coco (for MY standards)unless ur using them in conjunction with another nutrient line meant for coco

There is a dispensary here in CO that runs coco and only feeds with tea. They feed every watering. I did not press him for more info.

Thats interesting. I don't think it's a method I'd ever use, but I'd love to learn more about it. Brewing tea that often sounds like a lot of work... A few times a grow is enough for me.

The word "tea" means many different things to many different people. Some people dump a few tablespoons of Earth Juice in a bucket, bubble it overnight, and call it a tea. (I don't mean that as an insult to Earth Juice, I'm just using it as an example)

I think you would run into problems trying to grow plants in straight coco with only true AACTs made from compost/castings, molasses, and minimal amounts of other bact/fungi food sources like fish hydrolysate.

I didn't press, because the guy mentioned flushing, sigh. I do not know if they are using just microbe teas. The guy said they made the move after having issues with the fertilizer they bought being inconsistent. Their weed is good, but not outstanding. I would like to see it cured, not just quick dried and sold like most places do.
