Is cannabis heliotropic or phototropic?

I’m a bit confused on the difference between heliotropism and phototropism & which category cannabis falls under. Could cannabis be considered both, or is it one or the other?

Heliotropism - “the directional growth of a plant in response to sunlight.” - google

Phototropism - “the orientation of a plant or other organism in response to light, either toward the source of light ( positive phototropism ) or away from it ( negative phototropism ).” - google

Are the leaves twisting/hiding from light stress considered negative phototropism? I never heard of that til now. I literally just hit everything head on. Hit problems first & ask questions last lol

Yea leaves moving away due to light stress would be considered negative phototropism. Still wondering if cannabis could be classified as heliotropic as well

I was showing someone the other day a pic of light stress making the leaf blades flip around.. or try to. They will succeed if the light isn’t adjusted. Silica can help with this tho? Or I may have it confused. It’s late & I’m stoned to the 10th power.

Or maybe it has its own Classification for something that is heliotropic and phototropic. I’m sure there’s probably a word for that too

Silica has many great properties including helping with drought resistance, however Im also stoned AF right now and can’t remember if silica helps with light stress, but I want to say yes it does

I’m picking up what you’re putting down now. I had to ask because of the excessive safety meetings where no one else showed up. So there was me :eyesmoke:
Thatsa Good question tho.. because the plant literally grows in the direction of the light no matter what you do to it.. examples

I found this on google after scrolling a bit

“In heliotropism, not any old light source will do. It is only radiation from the sun that causes the reaction. And the mechanical causes of these two types of movements are very different. When plants move in response to the position of an external stimulus, it is called a tropic [TRO-pic] movement.”

I had no idea there were so many forms of tropism. Doesn’t gravity effect everything on earth, so shouldn’t all all plants be considered geotropic?

Forms of tropism include phototropism (response to light), geotropism (response to gravity), chemotropism (response to particular substances), hydrotropism (response to water), thigmotropism (response to mechanical stimulation), traumatotropism (response to wound lesion), and galvanotropism, or electrotropism (response

All plants are heliotropic if the sun is involved. All plants are phototropic regardless if its the sun or other light source
Wouldnt all plants be considered geotropic (gravity effects everything) and chemotropic since the roots send out chemicals to react to particular needs that they have for nutrients

I wanted to keep mothers, but I really don’t have the space. I may take that one out and keep it under a small light outside the tent. I do plant on attempting to make fem pollen on a thug pug collab #5 female I have & make fems. All the clones I have would be crossed with it. I’m leaving whatever fits in the tent.

Way too stoned to absorb that lol
Thanks @mudballs & @Kassiopeija this was way out of my league, but struck my interest.

I havent studied the other tropism, bit of unusable information overload, so i never bothered with them.
If I caught what @Kassiopeija was trying to put down I gather that plants can fall under multiple tropisms. For some reason I thought it had to be one or the other. So I think cannabis can fall into every category except maybe thigmotropism (response to mechanical stimulation) but not 100%
