Hey guys I just purchased a 400w HPS with cooling tube hood. I plan on using it in a tent with the specs of 3ft. L, 2ft. W, 5ft. H. Is that too much light for that size of a grow tent or will my plants be ok?
Is 400 w HPS too much?

Ya i was running a 250w but figured I would get fatter denser buds if I upgraded to a 400.

I run a 400 in a tent similar in size to your space. 3X3X5 and my setup works good. I have a inline fan sucking a carbon filter and then running through my hood and out the top of the tent. Temps are good most of the year. Summer it gets too hot but thats because I live in an area thats in the mid 90s all summer.

With proper intake and exhaust your perfect, just started my 400hps in my 3x3x6 tent. I wanna get a cool tube

In my opinion a 400 watt doesnt put off much heat if its air cooled. I have a 600 watt hps in a 4x4 tent and my temps never exceed a couple degrees past room temps. I can literally keep my hand on the glass indefinitely without burn. I dont own a 400 but im sure it puts out less heat than a 600.
