is 20 gallons enough for a 4' x 6' flood table?

15 handles my 2 2'x3's at the same time. 20 when the plants get bigger.
man thats crazy do you fill the trays with hydroton cause with my pots it takes more water as there is more volume to fill i guess it all depends on the medium.

It depends on how you are setting up the feeding system. If it a true flood/drain you like i use, you need a 70 gal. If you are using a drip system a smaller one will do. Look up a formula to convery cubic feet of the table (4'x6'x6" or 8") to gallons.

Yup!
Without the hydroton, 15gallons won't even fill 1 2'x3' tray.

Hydroton obviously displaces alot of water.

The argument against filling the tray with hydroton is mobility. Some people want to be able to move their plants around.
I for one will be using a SCreen Of Green technique...once you train your plant under/in a trellis, you don't want to move it anywhere IMHO!

So it depends on what technique you plan on using.
