Is 10 Week Flower Really 10 Weeks?

I've got a few plants growing, 3 greenhouse super lemon hazes, a goldline nevilles haze and an amnesia lemon from barneys farm.
It's my first grow, I'm growing in soil, no nutes under 600w.
I switched to 12/12 on Nov 1st so it's 10 weeks just gone on tuesday and they're a few weeks away I think. What does it mean when the seeds are described as 10 weekers yet take longer?
Any advice would be great, just to expand my knowledge if not to put me in my place.
Thanks lads

i think its 10 weeks from first noticable bud, not from flip, sometimes it can take 2 weeks for the plant to start that bud formation. hope this helps

im glad i read this thread. i was told by other members your suppose to go by the first switch and i thought u give them a two week (lull period "stretch period"). thanks for making the thread and the ppl who replied. makes my mind a little more at ease for my first real good size grow.

lol, am i going maddd or is everyone here useless??? wow, the flowering cycle begins the day the light period changes, when its 10 weeks flowering that means its 10 weeks since the light changed 12/12.... damn..
