hey irish, quick question, what the heck is VF-11? I must have missed it somewhere!
http://www.vf-11plantfood.com/

ive seen some great plants grow with just that and Fox Farm soil. my plants were happy and green with it, i switched to my Dyna Gro, but still thinking of using VF-11 on 1-2 plants? stuff really cheap and is at OSH, Homedepot, everywhere. its real weired stuff and i always thought it was snake oil but i know a trusted grower that rocks it out with just that alone.

Is this the... vegan NPK in a really low amount? like 1-1-1 or less? There website isn't exactly easy to read and doesn't say anything at all about whats in it (except "minerals). Trying to find more info on the internet and I just get more and more discouraged by what people claim this stuff is made of. They don't even try to say its organic, and that worries me.

its not organic and its like some super top secret stuff you will not get them to say whats in it. its clear has no smell and just screams snake oil all around but ive seen it rock some killer plants with good buds and thats all that was used. a few people that do use it swear by it. kept my girls real happy when the were starting out. IDK what to think bro i e-mailed them and asked them what it is and other questions on how to use it and all i got was a sales pitch. IDK bro dude pulls around 3-4oz per plant with just that. ive also seen it in hydro and that worked good also and their was only like on other thing added hydrozime or whatever the root stuff is. buds come out super frosty also!

i might keep it on a plant or two? i have allot of faith in Dyna Gro though and that stuff is very very cheap and is one of the most complete nutes made for plants.

Here is what they sent me when I asked, I'll try and type some of it down since its a bit hard to read I guess.
VF11_Product Guide B.jpgVF11_Product Guide A.jpg
Non Toxic, safe around kids and pets. Ground water safe

Microminerals: Iron, Boron, Manganese, Zinc, Copper, Molybdenum
Macrominerals: Calcium and Magnesium
Nitrogen (.15%), Phosphate (.85%), soluble potash (.55%)

so unless they are leaving some secret stuff out, it just seems to be a weak liquid NPK with minerals added?

High Irishboy! I was just cruising around, looking for stuff on defoliation, and saw your name. I had to register just to say I'm glad I found where you're growing now.

You're garden's starting to look good... but have you thought about moving to Alaska? ;)

Multi wave length LED lights seems cool, BUT... This forgoes the wave length differential between spring light conditions and fall harvest, which exchangeable bulb fixtures allow for.

Ans so I wonder, maybe the next step is having an o/o switch to only allow grow wave lengths during grow and flowering wave lengths during flower.

There are definitely panels out there where you can switch all the red/blue/white off and only run 1/3 or 1/4 of your panel if you want. I would have liked that for my 395w GLH so I wouldn't have to buy a smaller unit (so I don't waste power with the 395 on small plants), but really that would have been just another way to make the light able to break so I'm ok with it. Its just like vegging with an HPS, nothing wrong with it (and nothing wrong with vegging on a full spectrum panel, should still grow better than just blue.

Wow to me it looks like they all grew up to the same plane of glass or something! Hey are you sure those buckets are safe and won't leach or anything?

not sure what the same plane of glass means?

from what ive read the lowes buckets are safe and food grade, lots of people use them for DWC also. i was worried about that but lots use them and i looked at the triangle at the bottom and its the same plastic that used in my food containers. you do have to be careful with buckets though. i will never buy pots again after finding how much they rip us off, 5gal pot is the same size as a 3gal bucket. 5 gal bucket is around the size as a 7gal pot. allot cheaper and better to do it in buckets IMO

I mean it looks like all the tops of all the plants are the same height as if there was a flat plane of glass and they all grew right up against it perfectly level even top? something like that

the angle makes it look like every branch and leaf reaches up to the same height?

ah i get it.lol

na their are a few runts that are not as even, all pretty close but not as even as a canopy as ive had on other grows, time will tell when their older how the canopy turns out. their on the right side in the middle, pretty close though

Are you using both the 500w and the 365w or just the 500w for this grow? I am interested in either 1 500w spectra LED or 2 290w. Which do you think would be best for a 4x4 tent with 5 plants?

I'd definitely go with at least 2 LED units in a 4x4 space, I'd only get 500s for light movers or tents smaller than 4x4. Pretty sure Irish would recommend getting the two 290s as well.

ill have a update this sunday for their week mark up date.
i would go with the 290w over just one 500w if it were me, i think the 500w would rock out a 4x4 tent but you would have more intense light and more watts with 2x290's. i wanted to use the 290's but the owner wanted me to test the 500's 1st, then ill rock out 4x290's on a latter grow.
i am only using 1x500w as of now. all other lights are on time out, the other 500w will be added later in flowering

yup i would recommend that, but do think my 1x500w would do good in my 4x4 tent because they reflect everything good unlike my open area and it lights up my 4x4 tray pretty good from what i can see at 24", but the 2x290's would be better because more core light over a wider area

heres a update of the girls, temps been in the 90's for a while, girls look great not one bad leaf that i can see, been feeding Dyna gro for the most part then some VF-11 once in a while to give them a light feeding and flush out some of the salts but still give them some foods. next feeding will be Humic acid to help clear out some build ups and make things more chelated for the plant.

still only using one 500w as of now and about to transplant up to the 5 gal buckets this week. so far really digging the Dyna gro and VF-11
