hey I am new to LED is there a guide out there or can someone introduce me into LED?Would like to know price ranged, heat issues, legit companies and the benefits of LED over CFL/MH/HPS.Thanks alot!!!

Hey, Im new to this growing thing, but LEDs I know about.

Since you can even touch the bulb after having been on for 72 hours plus.. theres basically no heat. Since it only gives out the right wavelengths rather than burning off a load of other wavelengths like CFL, HPS, HID, MH lights, its much more effective, also the light doesn't illuminate the whole room, just directly in front of the light, your not losing your wattage everywhere else, its all being soaked up by your gorgeous, soon-to-be-tasty Tetrahyrdacannibol rich plant.

Best lights aren't cheap chinese knockoffs, you need at least 3 band spectrum, 660nm, 430nm, 630nm (ultra-bright white at 7,000k is a bonus) And you can have your lights just 10cm above the plants, without having to majorly worry about burning them, or keeping the lights so far away it stretches. 90w light is the LOWEST you want to go, should be good for 1sqm at 45-60cm above the plant.

The best LED light I've found so far is:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135W-LED-UFO-GREEN-LAMP-Grow-panel-better-than-90W-Light-Board-3W-LED-Flowering-/220895751317?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN&hash=item336e69ac95

Thats if you're from the UK, if not im sure you can find plenty of places to buy from.

They're generally expensive, at $400 for 200-250w on average. But I have seen several grows with LED and they all say, dependant on temp, pot size (plant pots, not smoking pot), ferts and air circulation, around 5-10oz per 180w of lighting, (thats experienced growers, first grow will always be smaller unless you've earned a degree in botany). They definitely work.

Best of all, they are rated to work for 50,000 hours! 5 times longer than when you want to change your MH, HID bulbs !

leds can bleach plants if they are too close. i have a pg-180 and my tent is 3 feet tall. and sometimes i feel it is too close to the tops.

Yeah but then again they are more efficient and I won't need a extra cooling system just need a filter and vent....any ideas which led to get?Pls advise some europe based companies as I will get hit by customs and its kinda suspicious imo thinking about these--> http://plantphotonics.com/our_lights_70Watts.html dunno if they're good though would need reviews and apparently if I am not wrong I would need one for veg and one for flower right? in that case these are to expensive.

L.E.D.S are on par with any light out there. I use them only in both my flower room and veg rooms. I use T5 for clones. I am in Oregon and it is hot as hell up here right now. I have no fans except the ones on the wall to move air. I have a guy make all my lights and he only charges me $349 for each one and they do both veg and bloom. I just cropped and my yields were far better than a friend and his 1000's. I don't have c02 yet but I pulled no less than 550 grams dry from each plant after it was cured and ready. My plants are about 4 ft round also. IMAG0253.jpgIMAG0254.jpgIMAG0255.jpgIMAG0256.jpgIMAG0257.jpg

Here are as many specs as I have at the moment. He currently make these lights. He have done the research and put the time into the lights to make them better then whats out there on the market today. His system uses normal LED's with high MCD ratings. The veg spectrum uses 110 L.E.D.S and the flower spectrum uses 120 L.E.D.S. Each led is rated at 15000 MCD, With the proper conversions each LED is about 2.5 watts. When he did the conversions of MCD to lumen it came to 150k or more. A 1000watt system pumps about 100k lumen so mines better then that. Super bright LED's make the penetrating power very high. The other upside to my system over the UFO's that are everywhere is mine in using normal L.E.D.S, that means if you wanted to you could get 1 inch off of a plant and it would produce no heat. Super nice system and i will end this by leaving specs below

Spec's

150k lumen

Dual cycle built into 1 system

No heat produced

True 3 amp system

Mounting bolts for hanging or you can remove them and angle it as it has a 90 swivel

super bright LED's for high penetrating power

I have just bought the Amethyst 210W from Plant photonics, i think it's really a good compagny and i have always hear good thing about them. Just look in this section, there is a subject about us. If you wait one week i will post some pics of the panel when I receive him .
If you are in Europe i think it's the best, I have heard that evoled have some problem with their evoV4 so if I was you i just will wrote a e-mail to plant photonics, i think they will answer your questions better than me.

(Sorry for my english...)

Ya, I grow in a 4x8x7 tent and am now in a huge garage. 1 light will do a 4x4 area with no problems. Whats best is that I have not heat issues and the penetrating power is crazy. I got rid of my a/c and all my ducting. I love this setup. One more bonus, my electric bill was only 28 dollars for the whole month for everything. I did 8 plants this time. The guy makes each one by hand to order and even has a warranty for the leds should one fail. He does it in his free time but with selling so many hes not getting much free time. If you want his info pm me and ill let you have it.

Did you check this out? I am not sure if this helps in Europe but here ya go

Thats actually a very good comparison chart! a bit subjective, but has some good info and I like that you can actually see pretty much all the lights on the same page.

Also it's the first time I've seen comparisons using Watts Per square foot. which is pretty smart IMO because, yes, you might have 300W of actual draw, but if the angle is too wide and spread all this light on a big coverage the light each leaf of your plant will get will actually be alot weaker than another light that has maybe 200W but a much smaller coverage.

i have a few questions for you LED experts. i am new to pot cultivation, i currently have a small outdoor plot going as well as one plant under cfl's, first time grows just trying to get a little experience. anyway i am looking to get a serious indoor grow tent set up this winter. I have a small space to work with, about 4 x 7. also i am a total n00b with working with electricity too. but trying to research as much as possible. now for the main question:

does a 600 watt LED light consume as much energy as a 600 watt HID? the reason i ask, again, being a renter and cant really mess with the breaker panel.
i am sure i will have more questions as my research continues. thanks in advance for all your help.
