Interesting news from Ottawa

I have been seeking help from my MP (senior cabinet minister) regarding my renewal application and the fact that Health Canada dates the new permit from the time that the Doctor signs the renewal application and not from the date of expiry of the original permit. After six months of back and forth with my member, I received this response today :

"The (Health) Department recognizes that delays in processing applications can impact the validity period of a registration certificate, and is actively looking at ways, within the regulatory framework, to speed the process. In the interim, where there has been a significant delay in processing an application, Health Canada can contact the your health care practitioner and obtain permission to register you for the full period of time intended as of the date of registration."

This a somewhat of a win. However I have repeatedly made the point that I do not want to ask my GP to have to deal with Health Canada anymore than she does. I consider it a waste of her time. She does not charge me anything for filling out the paperwork. And there are 107,000 people in Nova Scotia without a GP.....

Is this news to everybody else ?

more HC smoke and mirrors

all they have to do

1.you can grow from the date the dr signed [just like the date they put on the doc..5 month later]

2. OR continue taking 5 months[like they're gonna do anyway] and change the date to when they send it back..

instead they act like they are making a concession and make you go back to your gp...

Know your rights....

Our Courts have declared that we have the freedom to choose how we will address illness or injury in our own bodies when we face a health crisis. Health Canada is using another set of regulations that oppose what the Courts tell us.

The first right listed in the Charter of Health Freedom is taken from our Canadian Charter of Right's and Freedoms:
"the right to life, liberty and the security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice". Although the rights listed in the Charter are rights our Courts tell us we already enjoy, there is currently no legislation which sets them out for the bureaucracy to follow.

The government has no business in your health, if your doctor approves your script, HC cannot deny you, as they are only registering you, not approving you.

That argument wins in any court. What if we took it a step further; Why do we need to register our medicine preference with HC at all? What other patient group is forced to get a signature from HC before they can treat themselves? The practice clearly discriminates against cannabis patients. It might be time for another constitutional challenge against HC.
