Interested in Coco with Aptus.

After looking into Aptus I decided the cost is not that much, considering how little is being used at one time. It seems like those who use it are all more than happy with the results. So I bought the line and have used it with Ocean Forest soil. I'm always looking for something new to try out and read about people using Coco as a growing medium.

What I think I've learned is, with soil, you already have nutrients in it and it tends to be a sort of buffering medium where if you add too much of one nutrient or not enough, the soil makes it not so much of a problem unless you are consistently adding or not supplying enough. I've read a bit about Coco fiber and it sounds interesting in that it has no nutrients and what you feed the plant is the only nutrients it gets. It sounds like Bcuzz is a good Coco.

This is where I'm needing to know more. With the soil, you have those built in nutrients so if you use a feeding medium like Aptus, where there is a specific amount of XYZ products given at each week of the schedule and with the values and ingredients changing, it seems like the soil nutes would throw off the nutrition what the makers have made in their designer feeding schedule. Aptus doesn't seem to advocate any particular soil but since different soils have different nutrient values and ingredients, not all soils are the same. So if that's true, then something like Coco might be the way to use something like the Aptus feeding regimen as Coco won't color the spectrum of nutrients the plant encounters.

So, I'd like to hear how people like using Coco, anything tricky about it, things to be aware of and especially if someone is using Coco & Aptus, I'd sure like to know how it's working for you and any thoughts you have on it.

Thanks

Hey mega,
Fasilitor has some stuff in it that isn't found in many silicas. There are two popular forms of PAS (this is the Plants Available Silicon): amorphous silica (Diatomacious Earth= This is an organic amendment) and monosilicic acid (an pricey additive located in some Potassium Silicate inputs, like Fasilitor= which is not an organic amendment). So going with aptus can be beneficial, I used it with watering for a few grows and stopped, now I use it as a foliar sometimes. I got tired of paying as much as I was. My buddy still uses it and swears by it because it makes his life easier when he ends up stressing out his plants later down the road. One of my rooms is coco, and I like to use it as a medium. Bcuzz is a good coco to go with.
