insects puttin holes in leaves

Hey, I've got two plants (just about 12" tall) that I've been putting outside for the last 33 days and almost every single leaf has been bitten at, leaving small holes or "incomplete leaves." I put them in my basement under a weak light during nighttime the last couple nights (I'm waiting for some CFLs which should be here in a week to continue vegging indoors) to prevent auto-flowering (this post is after August 30). Should I just get a standard pesticide or what? Or is it okay if the leaves continue to get bitten at until I switch to CFLs? The vertical growth and development of new nodes and leaves is going perfectly fine, the leaves are simply being nipped at by insects! Any suggestions anyone? Thank you!
 
Get some neem oil that will get rid of those bastards i hate little pests I hate the whiteflies the most. Just apply it as directed on the bottle u should be able to get from a good DIY store. Good luck hope ur plant survives

Thanks for the tip neighbor, I wanted to make this grow organic anyways so neem oil won't ruin that. What is a "DIY" store? I think I'm just gonna get some on eBay unless there's a type of store (in a country like France) that would sell it. I looked up the word "neem oil" on french Google, no results so I'm wondering if maybe I should just use eBay... thanks for the advice!
 
Do it yourself DIY a hardware store neem oil is organic and wont trouble your plant. Where you buy plants and things for your home.
 
You could always make you own mix. Take a spray bottle, fill the bottom with dish soap (I use the orange anti-bacterial kind), fill 3/4 with water then 1/3 vinegar. Shake up and spray all over your plants until they look sudsy. Make sure you get under the leaves too, that is where they hide. Leave this on for a day then spray off with your hose. This shoul rid your plants of any bugs destroying them and the vinegar shines up the leaves. :peace:
 
Holes in leaves and half eaten leaves...sounds like you have a catapillar. search the underside of all the leaves. catapillars and snails are like other crawling insects; you can use non-invasive methods like placing your pot on a dish of water, (raised up on a brick or something), like a moat around you plant. the just cant reach it.

or a little electrical wire around the perimeter of the pot. powered by a 6 or 12V battery. they won't crawl over it. ( i heard about this, but haven't tried it yet.)

i personally feel, flying insects require pestisides, not crawling.

would neem oil get rid of all insects including the ones you think are responsible for defacing my plants?

p.s. - is it possible to clone leaves that are like 1-3% bitten?

yes. neem works on almost any pest. safe too. great stuff. always have some handy.

clone the grow tips, not just the leaves. so i guess, don't worry if the leaves near the growtips are half chewed. the clone will grow its new ones.

Thanks a bunch for the info. I ordered some neem, so that should be here some weekday this week I'd assume. I also made that homemade solution that someone suggested for the meantime. I hope these plants can endure a relatively tough week for 1 more week ... then I'm moving it all under CFL light indoors, and am going to top both for clones and then let the rest flower :blsmoke:
