Insecticidal Soap As Perventive Maintence? To Do Or Not

Meaning, I have a indoor grow that is looking good so far at a month old.......Is it worth maybe spraying them with insecticidal soap once to twice a week to help keep bugs away? Or only use when there could be a problem? I know alot of growers don't like to spray anything if not needed...But just wondering if this is a good or bad idea?

Thanks....

i am not really sure of any detrimental effects on plants from the use of soaps when there isnt an issue, but what i would say is, why fix what isnt broken? i am quite protective of my girls, and i dont even like using soap. I personally use Diatomaceous Earth, which is completely nontoxic and safe for plants humans pets..... if anything sprinkle a bit of that on your soil here and there. but in general, i would say dont use ANYTHING on your girls aside from water and nutes unless you actually need to.

Thats a good idea.. i'd rather spray once a week and prevent then to spray 4-5 times a week to get rid of.... do it. had a real bad mite problem. got rid of the infected but somehow they were around... started spraying with the safer soap 2x/ week. ALL GONE... thank god.

i think if your bug problem is so bad that you need to constantly take preventitive measures, you should reconsider your growing conditions. i just dont see spraying insecticide on your plants every week is a good thing. i personally dont like it when even the smallest hair, or dust particle gets on my plants. the last thing i want is it constantly covered in chemicals. remember that your going to be ingesting this stuff.

if you get the random infestation, treat it, and move on. if its a recurring problem, you may just need to stop, tear it down, bleach it out, reseal it, put it back up, and try again. but i just dont see spraying your plants over and over as being a good growing method.
