I added some of my own from a failed meal worm farm not sure what it did but things seem to be going well (sans the fucking spider mites but that's my fault for being slack on environmental controls)

I've used the other brand that is listed as 2-2-2 and I can't say I noticed some miraculous change but like you I know it contributes chitin which induces the plants response mechanisms which is beneficial. Seems the type of insect and what they were fed dictates the NPK it has.
I'd say it can't hurt and would be part of a well rounded nute blend.

Long time user of insect jerky. LMAO. I use Boogie Black indoors in winter and home collected under my bug zapper in summer. I suggest 1 Tbsp per gallon of medium at first mix of soil. And again at week six with or as top dress. It is helpful if your method is organic. Don't bother if synthetic.

I use the BAS one, but I wouldn't hesitate to use that either. Down to Earth is good shit too. I have some of their stuff in my collection.

Plenty of chitin in barley too and it’s considerably cheaper.

Chitin is supposed to help your plants resist fungus, mold and some pests. Along with silica and calcium it's part of a chemical free pest prevention
So if it's really, really working you're plants may not look much different, but you don't get mold or bugs. Which can be a huge benefit to you, depending on your environment.
Other stuff has chitin too, but sometimes it's nice to rotate. Or do something fancy like top dress frass in veg and crab shell in flower.
