Inline pump suggestions!! RDWC

I’m building an RDWC system and I’m pretty stumped on the inline pump. I’ve looked at a few on amazon and all of them have bad reviews which worry me. Don’t want one that will die on me cuz that seems like it could be a real problem. So my questions are:
Do you guy have any pump brands that you recommend that have worked well for you in-line?
Ive been thinking about just going submersible also, but I already know res temps are going to be an issue for me. Say my res temps are at 73 degrees, how much will a 400 GPH submersible pump raise temps in a 30-40 gallon system compared to a 400 GPH inline pump???

Also I’ve seen so many posts like mine but nobody answers the actual questions that were asked, so please stick to the questions asked!! Thanks

Danner makes great pumps, they are worth the price.

With any critical grow component it is wise to keep a backup on hand.

Like renfro mentioned keep a backup on hand if possible of critical components. Never failed it seems when I was doing commercial work; motors and pumps only shit the bed on a Friday afternoon at a bad time.

Thanks everybody. Pulled the trigger on the Danner pump. Will get a cheaper one for backup

I use a Danner 5 on 20 gallons so you may want to think about a 7. Inline for sure so you can build some sort of t with a drain valve to drain it.
Inline you really don't have to worry about the pump heating your water.
If you had a chiller then you really wouldnt have to worry about it. Just sayin.

damn, already pulled the trigger on the Danner 5. And yeah I know. I live in a VERY warm climate. Temps getting up into 110F+ in the summer. So I will definitely get a chiller in a few months (probably won’t need one cuz atm cuz it’s about to be winter)
Also I prob should have specified this: system is a waterfall system with 4x 7 gallon buckets, and a 20 gallon res. But obviously it won’t be filled to the brim so it’ll probably be around 30 gallons when full. Will the 500 cut it?
also I’ll be doing 4 plants in a 4x4 tent. Should i do 7 gallon buckets or should I do 5 gallons?

Danners seem to be the top-tier pump but I've had fine luck with the EcoPlus 700gph mag drive I'm using in my UC system.
Had a couple of years worth of grows on it and it's just like new.
Be my luck that it'll take a dump tomorrow...

Try it and see. That said, my first pump was a Ecoplus 396. It got me to harvest and to this day I have it as a backup.
I dont run waterfall but air pump failures are right up there as far as the worst things that can happen to me in rdwc.
Your water pump is your circulation pump AND your air pump as it aerates your water also. Have a backup.
Thinking of it in those terms, you could probably buy 2 ecoplus that will serve you just as well as Danner.
As always, just sayin.

Newa Jet. Great pumps, all the models above the 500 work as both submersible and inline. Built in cutoff if they run dry.
