Hey, u can do that but I'd recommend a thermostat to have it kick on at a predetermined temperature as often times they do not need to run at all times.

I've never heard of that. I thought they were on the entire time the lights were on. Couldn't I just hook it up to a separate timer and have it go on and off like every hour, or whatever the recommended time is?
