Injecting Plants With sugar?

Is doing this beneficial to the plant at all? Furthermore could you grow with no light at all with the correct dosage of sugar? As always thanks for your guys's input, it's extremely helpful.

Sugar (carbohydrates) is food for the microbes in the soil - it doesn't do anything beneficial for the plant itself.
