Me too.I bought one thinking Id use it for that reason. I think I checked it the day I got it - and other than that has been just a toy to check EVERYTHING else. Fun for a bit maybe, not necessary in my opinion (which is based on little experience!). I use one of those wire probe thermometers for canopy temp.
Thats what I bought it for, surface temp of leaf. Just seemed to never pull it out to use after day I got it tho.. easier to just look at gauge of probe therm thats always there. In my mind, now, the ambient temp suffices for surface temp. Also, I dont know the technical data - but when I bought it, I remember reading about emissivity (i think thats what its called?). I think its probably fine for a ballpark figure, but I think its accuracy depends on the surface, and what its made of. I dunno, I just remeber feeling like it was only really going to be marginally accurate anyways. But then again you could point it right at the leaves. So maybe it's a cool toy to have.
