Yep. Small growers are busted for a handful of reasons;
1. Someone they know rats them out
2. They're doing stupid shit like selling out of the same house they grow in
3. The cops find it when they respond to a totally unrelated call, or are called when someone tries to break in and steal it
4. They rig up the wiring themselves and the fire department finds it while the place is burning down
Never in my life have I heard of infrared playing a part in a busting a small-time grow operation.

its not even logical to waste tens of thousands of dollars to bust a grow that will only produce a cpl grand at the MOST, just to fire up then copters and fly em its prob 50k at least in gas, in rescourses and troopers, so why the fuck would they spend 40k trying to get a guy making 5k? dont add up sry unless ur grwoing 100 dont owrry about it, and if u are, your not posting on here

some friends and i have been run down by a chopper with FLIR while housesitting because the neighbors thought we were burglarizing the place, and i had a nice long chat with the cops about thermal imaging while on my belly, and i realize this has already been stated but i figured i should add that although they had no trouble counting us with it outside the house they just weren't sure if anyone was still in the house. i brought this up while they were bragging about there stupid helicopter, insulation foam poses some serious problems. this was a couple years ago and in the deep, deep south, were houses need a lot of insulation for cooling to be economically feasible. now, the ideal temps for growing are a litle lower than average body temps, lights put out more heat but something is always done whether its cool tubes or a exhaust system or whatever(obviously i have always grown outdoor), couldn't you just vent the heat through a mini fridge or something cold.
also i suggest everyone get one of those lasers that tkae temperatures, even if you don't grow. i have used them plumbing and goddamn are they fun!

Anyone ever see those residential hurricane and tornado shelters they sell? Little pods which are buried into the ground and covered up. You put them near your houses as a refuge if things get hairy. It has lights, ventilation, and space.
Now this is not the one I looked at years ago. This fellow was selling them in a town I was passing though. His were round and meant to be buried like this, but had a more discreet entryway and not much visible at all from above, but this pic gives you the idea.
