I'm thinking of buying a infrared webcam and hook it up to a laptop n keeping it by the room and having a program take a picture every minute or so and I was wondering will the infrared lights from the webcam effect the night time sleep for the flowering room

I figured i'd ask before buying one...

well i know that any green light can not be absorbed by the plants and will not affect the light cycle. maybe if u can find a web cam with green infrared lights.goodluck!

I would think that the camera does not radiate infrared light. It captures the infrared light being radiated by the plant. I dont think it would be a problem to try it. But what the hell do I know.lol I kind of remember that from photography classes I took in college.

if it is light and it is not green it will disturb the plants.

im no expert but if you ever look around most ppl black out the power strip lights also with electrical tape.

If there is a power light on the camera, block it out. That does not affect the basic idea that the camera lens does not put out any light, it only catches it and allows it to be recorded, or printed on film. Infared radiation is popularly known as "heat" or sometimes known as "heat radiation". The camera is really capturing the heat signature of the plants. I would like to see the camera. I may be way off base not actually seeing what we are talking about. If you are talking about night vision, that is a whole different animal.

That is different from what I was thinking of. That camera has lights on it. I would be afraid to try that.
