Induce Branching???

If i topped the plant would that induce branching for clones, i still dont know what sex my 2 are so i want to flower 1 clone as soon as possoble,, and about what height would be the best to top at, they r still Very small, only about 3inches

and also i really dont know how many fan leaves grow befor it will start branching, i dont want to grow this for 2 months and have a shit load of leaf and 1 straight stalk. Hope all this made sence, thanks

On salvia and other plants I've worked with, if you cut right at a node (for a cutting or whatever), it'll branch out a few nodes down.
