mandala's sold out of 8 miles high for a while, but when it comes back in stock. you should be able to get it direct from mandala, at attitude or any other legit shop that carries his gear. i think that actually might be the strain i'd want to cross with columbian gold. haze skunk is too skunk dominant with a touch of lead eye that's only get worse with a more indica strain and super cali would turn it into a fruity strain.

i haven't tried his satori, but that's supposed to be a really cool strain from what i've read. it might be more about euphoria than trippiness, but i just know i liked everything about the buzz from both the short & tall phenos. i hope to have tried more goodies to compare to it by next summer. i expect C99 x A11 to have a buzz kind of in that ballpark and super cali haze's buzz is nice too. i only had a tiny stunted bud of that to sample but liked it's buzz and flavor. i think 8mh would also tame some of haze skunk's rough edges.

as to gold, i KNOW that what i smoked was gold (even though it was called thai) by reading a lot of strain descriptions and seeing pinecones mentioned a couple times in regards to gold strains, senor garcia in particular i think. asian strains are generally fruity or spicy too and highland thai at least DOES taste just like a giant rainbow tutti fruity lollypop (moreso than juicy fruit gum). after mentioning my conclusion, someone in another forum from california reported they used to get the same stuff in the mid 80s too right before the paraquat war.

there are conflicting reports on where the gold comes from. one or two breeders claim it's the pistils (though i remember more orange colored ones) but a couple grow guides including marijuana botany (i think) mention that it really refers to the girdling technique of either cutting the main stem to block the uptake of nutrients a week or so before harvest to make the chlorophyll fade or by tightly tying the stalk to choke it for the same effect. besides the orangish pistils, the color was a pale green so it didn't match the descriptions of mexican gold and i imagine it was sold as thai too as thai stick was "the talked about" strain in the 80s with some talk of maui wowie here and there, but i never saw any thai or maui.

MJ botany details the girdling tech in a 3rd stripping of bark way and mentions it was called "la mona amarilla". i thought there was a few paragraphs about panama red in particular, but i must be vaguely recalling it's description in one of my original guides like cervantes' one. if cannabible mentions panama red and i'd bet a nickel it does, it must be in a cross or under some other name or maybe in a chapter about mexico. i couldn't find details on either, but there was another section on mexico in CB that talked mostly about michiocan & oaxican.

Rawski, all I know is that once the shit was dried it was golden yellow in color, all the old timers smoked it, it was CHEAP, and despite the fact it was cheap, it was pure sativa shit that put you in an energetic cloud of lightning and nobody was smart enough to keep enough seeds so we could enjoy it now.
i'll vouch for the low cost, low by today's standards, not so low by 1974/75 standards
time goes by and you forget shit, somewhere between $35-45 an oz, but 'ounces' back than could be a bit loose
a very fine quality it was, mostly i remember how much i liked it
did drink a bit back then, hangovers did happen
one puff of some gold, you were ready for whatever the morning had in store for you

and i thought $40 a quarter was cheap after indicas polluted the scene forever and prices jumped to $50 an eighth in just 1 year.

Between the Skunk Haze (Mr. Nice I'm assuming?) and the LSD (of which I can only find fem seed which I actually prefer not use) which is easier to grow ?

It sounds to me like you just prefer sativa dom Hazes and such?
I see you say you dont like diesles cause of taste(are you in states??) cause no diesel I ever tasted realy tasted
like oil to me..Especialy the sour ones Now So You Know all these Og kushes are realy Diesels and Deisels are realy
Chem dawgs. And if you like Skunky Hashy old school flavor with some of that new school sour citrus funk you
need og18 RP DNA find it at at tudes site(Im 42 and not proud to say been smokin every day around 30yrs).
So I remeber the comercial pot of late 70 early 80,s you speak of.And Ive watched it do all its evolving over the years
just like alot of other old foolz.I think this shit has in it some of best phenos Ive ever smoked(but im Ecoast not Wcoast)
and I know way experienced all ther og phenos.I do know that their super funk makes it up my way though.
Anyway I dnt want to sound like Im advertising as far as taste and potency goes Ive found phenos that blow away
the real orig NYC and SOUR D plants (Im 1000% sure Ive had that for 12 yrs now) matter fact my head bud is a 3 way
cross of them it dont yeild but awsome trichs (better then platnums Ive seen pics of) and taste like sour tangerines
with that og chem kinda dryness(best I can desribe it)not fuely like some describe..Anyway try that Og 18 from em
I know you will love it Everyone does............Also this gold color to all these different sativas you guys are talkin bout
was just the mature amber resin glands every strain I grow cures lookin gold ( i dnt know what so cunfusing bout it
and all that shit your readin bout gurdling to cause it or chems to turn it gold were written 30 yrs ago and if it was
a method that did anything we would be reading about gurdling all over theses boards(Did your buddy gurdle his last crop)??

Or yo I dont think that bud was gurdled it dont taste rite (no we dont soooooooooooo) whats that tell you??
Also they describe it as video game bud (Id call it amphetaweed) Its so strong it can have you playin peeka boo
out you window blinds. just trust me I have a VERRY VERRY high tolerance to THC (I smoke BHO most of time) I can only
catch a buzz off plant matter once a day rite after my coffee. So I know thers other jack asses like me and bubbleman
floaten around out there. Point bein if I can feel it in morning reg people will and do for fact(my freinds are not like me)
get wacked. And Ive grown out Quite a few from bean and can say I never found one that anyone complained about just
that 1 or 2 out of every 30 or so ive done were off the hook bananas(I dnt mother just anything believe me) I like to think im an
expert on pheno selection at this point!!!!!!!!

The other point to the gene pool story ,,,,Real kushes are indica afganica hash type plants (most are landrace) that origanate
from hindu mountains in middle east!!Which although taste good some times the resins are usaly dry and powdery and dont
get me hi for shit ..Avoid all of them like plauge (that shits the new regs)!!!!!!!!!!!

Also I do not endorse smoking resin glands more then ocassionaly Im not joking(I know Ive suffered side effects) and its verry addictive I trim others shit some times like some sort of crack whore just to bang there shit around and take all the glands
you fiend for it (and when you run out nothin gets you high) and sources for it are limited for anyone whos living any normal life.
So youve been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also dont think anyone should even try weed till around age 21)Im sure smokin so young fucked me up permenatley also................................................................................................................

barney's LSD is SUPER easy & indoor friendly to grow but nowhere near as motivational or psychoactive as high quality seeds' haze x skunk. it was the SHORTEST plant in my garden even compared to the short pheno of my joey weed's 45 day C99s.

i might have gotten an indica pheno on the LSD. i don't know the flowering time on that one, but it was close to done when the haze was just starting to flower & stretch.

for the most part, you still have to give some extra time & space for the best high.

between the two extremes, i think i'd prefer joey weed's C99 x A11. it's much faster than haze skunk, but probably less couchlocking than the 75% C99 cross with a twist of A11's mellow trippiness. couchlock is just never an option for me. a neutral "mellow buzz" you can function on though can be very nice.

if you decide to grow the LSD though, give it some extra time before flowering for the best yield. i started flowering mind at just the 3rd leafset and got a really dense & squat plant under 2 feet tall looking like it's a lowryder. one other thing, it has some more odor, particularly early in flowering ehen you get a dose of sickeningly sweet haze cat piss. joey's pure C99 was lower odor and just as grapey and i preferred that over LSD as both have nice levels of euphoria where LSD is stonier with more psychoactivity and C99 is racier & more clear headed. apollo 11 in it would smoke better than LSD i bet, but if you like knockout stones and can deal with odor control if you have a large room, then it's worth trying. i only had one plant and i'd say it was close to the cutoff point for acceptable odor level for me.

thanks. i'm just tryin' to do my own thing with out gettin' hassled by the man. LOL

all i know is that outside of this forum & a couple others like ICmag, you can't get a smoke report even when you ask for one from someone who claims to have blazed something. i literally wasted a couple YEARS trying to get someone to use adjectives, especially related to couchlock & trippiness levels, for indoor gear at long gone overgrow and never got a single answer, but did get a butt buddy collection of trolls that got tired of hearing me ask for the info i myself was tired of begging for.

it's not easy getting good lowdown on strains that get you high. i want to try many more to see what's better or what has intersting personality quirks like 8 miles high's totally neutral energy & warm fuzzy feeling that's totally 24/7 friendly

i find myself agreeing with your points
a lot of smoke reports give little feel to the 'feel' of the weed
that's what i'm looking for so i get some idea of what to grow

plain english is easiest to understand

i just write 'em the way i like reading 'em... especially with comparisons. i hope to try a lot more stuff and have better suggestions in the future

My two cents worth, if I can only write a smoke report in the aforementioned format I wrote my last one, lol. I don't necessarily grow conventionally so why should I write that way? Growing is as personal as it gets IMO, many ways to get to the same result, smoke reports are the same. I want to know what you thought of the smoke, hints on the grow, what you liked and didn't like about it. How you felt about it something personal not a set report that seed banks say, they all lie anyway by and large. Reading a report in essay form maybe longer and more time consuming but will give you a better feel of the grower and what he or she was expecting and learning something of the the care and exprience of the grower. Fill in the blank and any noobie that has never grown anything can sound like a 30 year grower but he doesn't have the strain exprience to compare if it truly is a good strain or not.
Guess I will keep doing mine the way I always do and enjoy reading the hazy grapes, growone and other reports. To me it is all about learning as much as possible about a strain and then expressing those views, forms don't fit into that, sorry.
Happy growing and I will ready a good smoke report in any form.

as someone who ONLY likes getting high, i know how hard it is to find the true lowdown on strains that get you there, even when you DO look as no one could pull a decent smoke report out of their ass to save their life at the last two forums i was at. they'd do 20 page grow reports with 100 pics & descriptions of room temps & pH levels etc. down to the minute, but then when harvest time came around... what do they all say? "best shit ever!" WTF does that even mean? ARRRRRRRRRRGH! one person's best ever (stone) only pisses me off. ALL i want to know about a strain is how it smokes! i'd say at least 80% of the gear out there is stoney crap by my standards.

i hope that sharing this info and these comparisons help anyone looking to get high find a strain with the EXACT personality they're looking for as each one has it's own THC & cannabinoid profile. even if it's a strain i know won't be to my own personal tastes, i still like reading smoke reports for entertainment purposes. then, if someone is looking for something euphoric but stoney, i can say jilly bean (or bubblegum, blueberry & skunk #1 etc.)

i think lack of good smoke reporting & comparisons is one of the other reasons why there isn't more superior (read weed that gets you high) gear out there. people just don't know it exists or have forgotten like the one smoker i righted in another forum who quit blazing after indicas invaded because he thought getting stoned was HIS fault and not the grower's

if more people got high, the world would be a better place. man do i wish i coulda seen the summer of love.

Ok, so Hazey, this is actually an outdoor strain and a SMOKE "STORY", not a smoke report. I hope you find it entertaining since your smoke reports are the best I've read so far on THC Farmer, Roll It Up, Smoke Reports, Grass City, and even Shanti's Mr. Nice forums.

A story takes into consideration the context of the smoke in action, not just a dry chart or evaluation scale that, as you say, may not have anything to do with what it does for you, an individual that likes getting high. It's cool to look at the chart-style smoke evaluations and get all fuzzy, but perhaps it makes us think that we are all talking about the same thing when actually we're not.

6 billion people, 6 billion realities.

And...I was one of the lucky ones to be in the summer of love. I got into farming a bit later, in 1976.

So here it goes, a story about how good/bad Colombian can get, although I'll have to write another round about the Santa Marta Gold we enjoyed that ONLY got us HIGH!

The most devastating herb I have ever toked was a true, landrace Colombian Wacky Weed was known to me as "Candybar". It showed up three or four times a year via Brooklyn, New York to Phoenix, Arizona. The only person in America getting it was my good Colombian friend Gerardo. His source was an old-time grower from Neiva, Colombia, land of the Colombian Blacks that ranged from a shady chocolate color to a rich tar coloration.

Candybar came so black and compacted in one ounce "bars" that it looked like hash and had very little if any apparent leaf or vegetable matter. It was tightly sealed in aluminum foil with an outer wrapping of Saran Wrap. The few people who were lucky enough to examine it up close were like, “WTF?” because it couldn’t be just plain weed. Not coming like that. What these lookers didn’t know, though, was the true surprise that the source of this smoke was handful of female plants that were not annuals. These mother plants were many years old and treasured by the few, rare individuals that had access to the herb they produced. Though I've never seen photos of multi-year plants from Colombia, my friend RCC sent me photos of a Thai tree with a sturdy trunk slightly larger in diameter than your forearm, with average height of approx. 16-18 feet. Standing alone along an agricultural field's wooded edge, a single plant looked very similar to a small stand of bamboo. It doesn’t necessarily mean a lack of vigor at the Equator when a plant grows beyond a year….or five.

One toke from a New York needle pin joint of Candybar was enough to send people falling down staircases, to start spinning so hard that they vomited, and to even lose their balance like my best friend who immediately passed out, fell forward into a brick wall, smashed his eyeglasses, and hit the cement - all before we could move from the same instantaneous freeze and time-stoppage induced by the one, hard-to-pull-from-the-pin joint hit that we each inhaled.

The time period helped the high. In 1974 when Candybar was selling for $100.00 an ounce in Phoenix, an outrageous price for those early days, very few people has smoked decent sinsemilla or had ever tasted this kind of highest quality, professional Colombian grower's personal stash weed. Peter, AKA Johnnie, and actually Gerardo, had people driving down 3 hours in the dark of night from Flagstaff just to grab one of the 3-5 bars being sold shortly after it arrived in Phoenix. Many were disappointed due to its absolute rarity and the general impossibility of getting even a 1/8 of an ounce, ever. Folks laughed when they heard about it. They just couldn’t relate without the experience. They had no reference point that was comparable. I’m sure many of the farmer bros out there reading this account can remember their first space dream and total wipeout.

He had tales of heavy intoxication from wherever he roamed. In Redway and Shelter Cove in Northern Cali he told me of sitting in the pitch-black Redwood forest on a summer night and listening to insect, animal, and sounds from "The Standing People" (trees). Yeah, sitting for 4 hours without barely moving. Now that's some zone. What territory.

Other times there were humorous stories of leaving pin joints in public places and following/watching the poor mental-patients-to-be as they blasted off instantly and lost their grip on the way. Much like the best highland Thai or other southeast Asian smoke that exhibited a SAM (Surface To Assassinated) missile speed. Victims who later swore that they had smoked herb spiked with LSD. Today, looking back, I'd compare it to a DMT blast, though not quite as psychedelic as a stunning combination of extremely high THC accompanied instantly by a wave or windblast of an even more intense CBD spin. And spin they did.

In the stashed Rasta section of Brooklyn’s Bed Stuy, Peter watched helplessly (yep, frozen in time) while a friend's girl tumbled down an entire wooden flight of Brownstone stairs. Once they could break free of Candybar's Tractor Beam they spent awhile tending to yet another casualty.

I remember several occasions when hipsters asked Johnnie what type of hash he was preparing. He used a razor blade to slice chunks or slices from the candy. Imagine, for you that can relate to what a “Chunky” candy bar was (is?), that you took two Chunky bars and lined them up touching, side-by-side. That was the general shape except it was not quite as thick. It smelled of warm dark humus, an earthy cannabis with a hint of fruit.

I never, ever smoked more than one hit at a time once I experienced the time-warp of 5 hours disappearing from a couple-three thin hits from a Ney York Needle pin joint. I laid wasted on the banks of Sycamore Canyon’s swim hole just below Laurie’s Cave wondering who I really was and when was I going to be able to, heyhey, think again. Only a few like Gerardo, George B., and Rob T. were perpetually motivated by Candybar and took off hiking for hours or drove a tractor in 100 degree heat all day under its spell. For most like myself it was paralyzing.

Second place (oh yes) goes to “Cartoon Weed”. Whatever it was, it was extremely predictable and intensely stony in its effects: you will be somewhere, probably in public, most likely in a place that you wish you weren’t, and totally lose it, laughing ridiculously until you cried. The release was enough to make some piss their pants, oh man.

I like that smoke a lot, too. It made life’s dream a magic, funny, shadow show.
