Indoor Gardeners and Gardener Questions

Hi all. I just made a group called Indoor Gardeners. I made this thread for my group to ask questions in but also for others to ask questions in and help others out with out people having to start new threads about them having bug problems what they used to do their garden indoors and outdoors. This is for both indoor, out door, soil and hydro type of gardeners. So come in sit down and enjoy the same love everyone has for gardening.

Please no asking questions about marijuana problems in here. This thread is for fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, trees, grass, how to make your own organic compost setup and other gardening things not about weed. If you have a problem with this and want to talk about weed then take it to the other different threads about it.

not a question but my boss ( farm boss) told me that a tiny layer of wood ash and small chunks of coles on top of the soil will help keep bugs away and also add some potash to the soil. i didnt question him on it cuz he seems to know how to grow and grow it good, after all he has been farming for the last 30 years. any way, i thought id give this a go. any one else heard of it?

I have never heard of it but it does sound intresting. Does it matter what kind of wood the cols are from and the wood ash?

i think certain types of ash have more potash in it but thats about it. also i would only use natural wood, nothing that has been treated or pressurized, just some good ol forest ash. im gonna put an add on CL for about 5 gallons of burtn wood ash.

That may be so but this is for people with fruits, vegetables and herbs and if you haven't noticed pretty much 99% of the topics in the gardening section is about what this tread is about/for.

Exactly and there are people who don't want to talk about weed in a fruit, vegetables, herbs and flower talk and have to sift through things to find what isn't about weed.

I was just thinking about maybe doing a drip feed system for my herbs and such that are in soil. Now my question is would you guys recommend that to help lower the need for me to water them my self and if so what would I need to do such thing and how do I set up the time and duration that it runs for?

we jusy installed a few acres of land the other day with some drip feed lines. i would go ahead and do it, just plant the plants close to where the line is dripping to ensure it is getting enough water, we burried our lines about 1 ft below soil level, we do not use a timer how ever, we just turn on the water in the morning for a few hours then turn it off. they do make timers for them though, they sell them at any where from wal mart to home depot and they should come with instructions.
i was gonna do some drip lines after i did them on the farm, but its to late for me and my garden this year, maybe i will do it next year

whats the specs on your garden? you know size, organic or not, raised beds or ground? im just curious

Garden Type - Indoor
Space Size - 6 feet long, 3 feet deep, Height unknown
Type of garden - Very little plant food want to use but going to be using mostly B-1 Thrive (regular) and a sliver of 20-20-20
Things growing in it - Herbs, fruits if possible, vegetables might also have house plants in there to grow them faster and to possible to sell them.

why not do an outdoor one as well?
and you can grow some fruits in side, like strawberries.

The weather here isn't the same most of the time. For the past few its been cloudy, or its rainy or its really hot. There's no shade spots where I live. Also where I live any food out side will attract bears and the bears here aren't scared of people and aren't scared of water. I've had bears sit under my window and they have gone into people's places so they'll do just about any thing for food.

turnups seared with bear grease n brioled is not a bad meal, especially if you throw in a skillet of cornbread n fry up some of that backstrap :)

I was doing some research and I found that some people recommend using a 2.0 UVB light for indoor gardens.

Is this legit that the garden will benefit from this and if so how long should it be on for?

not sure on that one, the only indoor i do is weed and veggies starts, i have heard of weed growers using them to increase trichs or something like that

Hey I have been reading about how good the new led lights are on color spectrom control and how reasonble they are on power consomtion and was wonder if anyone else has used them or knows some one that does? Was going to invest but looking for advise to make sure not pissing my hard to come by cash off.

every thing i hear about led is good for the most part except the crazy prices, how ever ive seen many leds grows and they either just dont compare to HPS or they are just at level with them, ive never seen anything ive not seen done with hps
