Indoor auto transplant problem

Ok so I got a indoor auto(landlocked funk) grow in soil. Started off in a solo cup and transplanted at 3 weeks into 12liters. When I took out out of the solo I could see the roots at the edge of the cup but wasn’t knotted up. Well I’m at near 8 weeks and near 4 into flower and it didn’t stretch much at all(last grow of this strain stretched 2 feet with topping and training). When I dig the soil back it looks like the roots are still about the diameter of the solo cup or maybe slightly bigger. Obviously the didn’t take to the new soil which is same kind as in the solo. I know I’m sol just trying to figure out where I went wrong and how to prevent it in the future. Any input appreciated

You got lucky with the first plant. 3 weeks is far too long in a solo cup.

I’d transplant around 10-14 days.

They don’t tend to focus so much on root growth when they flower. Also leaving it that long will cause a bunch of root circling.

Here is 8 days growth after transplant - they were transplanted at 10 days old.

Those are beautiful plants btw for that stage. What lights are you using if you don’t mind me asking?

Future reference they do fine in large pots. I drop auto seeds into a 5 gallon.

That’s awesome results. I’m using cheap blurples since I’m starting out and bound to make mistakes anyway. They do ok but I feel the growth is more sluggish than others I see. But I’ve really been thinking on what to upgrade to. Good led,s are so high.

You think a good 600mh HPS combo is much cheaper than top LEDs and can produce just as good a buds.

It’s just more expensive to run but you save hundreds of $ in up front costs.

I guess one thing to consider when thinking between HID and LED is how much heat HID produce , if your grow area is already pretty hot you might wanna go the LED route.
