Welcome to the life of "Road Trash" and as my wife described it once "Pond Scum"

I did not climb the towers. My job was the Networks feeding the towers.
Did that for 23 years, I seen some shit!;)

Totally cool.

So since you guys have some knowledge of cell towers, explain what happened here 2 days ago.

Wife calls me, I answer and my phone immediately disconnects. We play phone tag for a minute or 2, same result.

I call my other phone (I have 2), same shit.

I text a relative who works for Verizon, he confirms tower is down and says when it's up again you'll have to restart phone. And he had no repair time estimate.

This lasts about an hour, but after the tower is back up you had to power cycle your phone to reacquire the tower again or phone wouldn't connect. And if you didn't know that, you would still have the same problem.

WTF was that all about? Ideas?

Likely a bad circuit pack in the remote, also a possibility of a pack in the host.

Not often but a combination of multiple unrelated problems present themselves at one time.
That type of troubleshooting can take longer to identify and even longer if spare packs are not onsite.:finger:
