The age old comparison of "your family immigrated here 50 years ago so, there!" is long worn out.
The reality is that North America as a whole is getting full...physically full, economically full.
Racism does not influence my decision to support CLOSED BORDERS, common sense dictates that if we keep letting everybody and they're uncle into our countries, WE will suffer financially. Our taxes are paying for these folks to be here. Our taxes are paying for their education, medication, food, religion, shelter and financial support.
I don't think that every refugee allowed to enter Canada is going to blow us all up...I think they are going to cost us a significant amount of money to support them and their families. Money that we (Canada) don't have.
At some point we have to close the door and start taking care of our legal citizens.
I am Canadian, so I can't speak to the specific "Mexican" issue. We have an insane number of refugees here seeking asylum from Syria and the like. Similar problem, different country.
Maybe some of our members from the UK can give us some insight into what open borders did to their country...
The kick in the nuts is when your child's school sends you a notice that says they are going to be cancelling the Christmas concert due to feedback from members of the community. Hard to smile and wave at these immigrants who are coming here to leach and expecting us to abolish our core values and traditions to support them.
