Hello RIU,
I have 3 plants that have been vegging for a very long time. They are clearly rootbound and have stunted there growth. I am not an outdoor grower, but a friend and I have decided to move the plants from their tiny pots out into the wild. Being summer we are having some very long days, what would be the best way to go about transplanting these. What time of day would be best and how much of an area should I dig out and replace with organic potting soil? Anything else I should do? Any and all help is greatly appreciated...+rep to all. THANKS

is always best to transplant in the evening. that way they have the entire night to deal with the shock. give them a good drink and your fav. veg fertilizer. As far as the holes i dig my outside plant holes 3' x 2' and as deep as i can get it. more root space = bigger plant.

What about watering and shit like that. Will nature do most of the work out there or am I gunna be carryin gallons of water out there?

is there no water supply near your site? if not bury a couple 5 gallon buckets halfway and collect some rain water, its not the best but will be easier if its a mission to get to your site. you said 3 plants, so i would say a couple gallons every few days if its not extremely hot. your plants will "speak" to you and let you know when they need water.

depends on what kind of climate you live in. you are probably gonna have to haul in some water at some point even if the climate is to your advantage.

yeah, as in said below-i always too transplant my clones and shit in when the sun is going down-roots can acept the new soil, and make sure you watér them right away, so the old soil and new can freely mix together:)

keep up the good work...

personally i would rather have a very hot dry summer. it would be a pain in the ass to have to haul containers of water every day or so to the plants but i would also be able to regulate how much water my baby's get. I put 3'X3' sheets of plastic at the base of my plants and put rocks on it to hold in place. it really cuts down on the amount of water that gets to em.

i would guess early morning to transplant cuz then it gets a whole days worth of healing right after...i would dig a 3 foot deep hole about 2.5 feet wide
