Importance of an EC meter

I like to compare growing to baking (although baking is not nearly as forgiving).

If someone gives you a good complete recipe with very precise amounts of the ingredients and you follow it perfectly then it's pretty easy to be successful.

Now if someone said, "here, instead of telling you it's precisely 1 cup flour to 2/3tsp baking soda, 1 teaspoon vanilla..., I'm going to simplify it and tell you to mix some flour and a bit less baking soda with even less vanilla and then add the rest of the general baking stuff."

A long list of precise measurements looks confusing and long, but its much easier to follow and produce good results with as long as you have a measuring cup. If you ended up just tossing together a bunch of baking ingredients in sort of the right ratio because you're too lazy to use a measuring cup, chances are you'll end up with something edible but not at all tasty.

What, you don't remember that little bit where you say it's essential? Essential would indicate failure otherwise, which is uttterly false ;)

And you know how much you fed your plant because you measured out the feeding ;) not a tricky thing to do.
Oh, hee hee! Look! I found a mistake! Hee hee! Look at me! Hee hee!

Very deep. But there's also the very real idea that one will not get any smarter by hiding under a rock all day.

I'm not sure why you keep quoting Bertrand Russell. Am I supposed to say, "Wait, I was wrong, you're smart?" It'll take more than a couple of quotes pulled out of your ass to convince me of that.

You don't need to say you were wrong, you've already done that by directly contradicting your own opinion

That's great. Sure I was wrong. I contradicted myself and you caught me. Who gives a fuck? This is just the internet, remember? I'm wrong, I'm wrong, I'm wrong... See? It's nothing to me.

But the conclusion still remains. It's up to you to convince the thread starter to change his mind. Ready? Go.

Edit:

For the record, here's my position:
It's ESSENTIAL for new grower to measure their dissolved solids. Measuring it is not essential for plant growth.

This has nothign to do with changing the OP's mind. He can grow with candles if he wants, i'll give advice, but he can do just as he pleases :)

The point you are seeming to miss now is that the OP is taking the advice you gave earlier, yet you are already turning around and admiting you were wrong. So you are now admiting that the OP is following wrong advice  you told him it was essential, which he deided to accept, and a few short posts later you're agreeing that you were chatting shit

LOL

This is where you seem to be slipping up, your position means shit, because it's quite obviously not essential, reality is reality and an EC meter is not important or essential :) This has bene proven through history, and to this present day, EC emters are in no way a requirement to grow great weed :)

So you don't agree that it would be a good idea for a new grower to monitor his fluid levels?

I was admitting it sarcastically, brainless. My mistake was expecting you to pick up on that nuance.

And your weed doesn't look all that great dude, so your picture is only supporting my point.

You keep trying to put words in peoples mouths

A beginner can monitor things perfectly fine by keeping track of how much they are feeding their plant. You be as sarcastic as you like, your posts are out there, and you know how they read, they read like someone making a fool out of themselves

As i've said, i'm sorry if you're incapable of growing cannabis without having to buy every gadget, it's a piece of piss to grow but i guess some just aren't that talented :)
