^^^ ... So, in order of importance, food would take precedence over medical care, right? In view of that, why not let government take over the production of food, including farms, processing plants, delivery to market ... and retail sales at the grocery stores? Why let greedy, profit-seeking farmers, jobbers and retailers rake in all that profit on food and in essence, steal food out of the mouths of babies and other CITIZENS?

George Bush is a bully!!! That is why we are hated in alot of countries... America for what ever reason has been adhereing to the attitude that "We can, but you can't" We are supposed to be telling our children that fighting doesn't solve anything, and then they watch as America invades country after country. We need a Diplomat that can keep his head and not be a crotchy, my way or the highway, old man!!! If you watched the debated, Mccain was getting pissed, piercing his lips and forceing a FAKE smile... All the while Obama was cool as a cucumber... That was just a debate! If he can't keep his shit togehter during a debate how the hell is he going to deal with some of the crazy dictators out there??????

Idea for you, Brutal Truth. Go check out your state's rules for getting on medicaid. Seriously, go check it out.

Yes, the middle class is getting shafted badly. And pensions earned and saved are going up in smoke, all in the name of profit? That's one disgusting situation.
I already know I don't qualify, what benefit would it be to me to see that first hand?

Fighting solves a lot, and if you call those piss poor things on TV Debates some one ought to slap you.

Those weren't debates.

A true debate would have no stupid time limits, and would involve all the candidates.

Personally, I'd love to see Ron Paul make those two morons look like buffoons.

Palin is allowed to talk with whom ever she pleases. The point you're missing is, for her to "talk" with CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, PBS ... or any of the other media outlets that are in the tank for B. Hussein O'Bama, is not "talking" ... its placing herself under attack in the camp of the enemy. Don't think so? Just take a look at how McCain came under the bitch attack on "The View." Why in the world would Palin, or anyone else, want to subject themselves to claws and fangs like that?

Horseshit, Vi. Now, I'm miffed at you! You never really commented on all that effort I put into my posts way back there on the MYTH of the liberal media.

The View? Phooey. I've seen it, not watched it, about, umm, twice? WTF cares about that dumb show? Not me.

The media are not liberal, and if you dare to say otherwise, then it's time to go back to that post that I made and start refuting my contentions!

Until you do that, then nothing you have to say about our media being so liberal has any weight whatsoever with me.

Okay?

She should be talking to the people. She's being shielded because she has no substance, nothing to offer, and probably not much in the way of one-on-one discussion. She's not capable, and the idea of her being president of this mess is frightening.

Come on, just how carefully did they "vet" her if her daughter's boyfriend had "I'm a fucking redneck!" on his My Space page, and that was not removed until after the news of the girl's pregnancy came out? They did not do their homework with her, and now, with a complacent press, they don't even have to address this mess.

Brutal, I'll have to get back to you. I'm too tired for this stuff tonight and you've brought up too many different issues.

Doesn't anyone else think it would be a good idea to split this thread into different ones--one for health care, one for economy, one for Ms. Palin, lmao, etc? This thread goes all over the place.

Then again, it is kind of fun; sort of like walking into different rooms of a large home where there's a good sized party taking place. You just never know what folks will be chattering about in any given room?

Like, uh, Tips? Lovely avatar today. You look more tired than I feel. Are you feeling alright? What time are we all going to bed tonight? :-?

Oh, hey Vi? Regarding your question about the gov't providing food, etc? That's kind of a good question. You did have me stumped for a moment. Except that with health care reform we are not talking about the government GIVING it away. We're already spending hugely on health care, not covering everyone, and the whole system is full of holes and disparities. So while it is a good point to bring up, it doesn't work as an analogy.

I think something that doesn't get mentioned enough is that if we switch health care/insurance systems to something like they have in Germany, or whatever, we'll get it back in other ways. Employers will have more money to pay employees as salaries, if they're not having to pay for their employees' insurance. Or . . . this ought to please all you corporatists out there . . . more profit for the employers. Whatever the case, we're talking about rearranging the way we pay for insurance and care. It's not like a family like mine, paying out about $700 a month for mediocre health insurance is going to be paying that out, while at the same time, paying out for "free" health care to all those lazy shit heads on the bottom of the rung who just want free this, free that. See what I mean?

Tips, I'm a little concerned about your new avatar. Are you feeling okay? Let's just call it an evening and go to bed, okay?:bigjoint:

What good would it do you? You'd find out how difficult it is to qualify for it, that's what. That's what I meant.

You seem to be under the impression, courtesy of the Reagan era, that it's so bloody easy for anyone to just hop on the gravy train of "handouts" and stay there forever. It's not.

That's why I want you to go check out your state's rules for qualifying for medicaid. Unless you're an illegal alien, apparently, it's kind of hard.

Speaking of which, how come no one is bitching about that problem? I dont' get it, how NEITHER party seems to think this is a problem. Want to bitch with me, anyone? I have nothing whatsoever against Hispanics, not a thing. I do, however, have a huge problem with all of their children, citizens just by virtue of being born on US soil, qualifying for everything under the sun, and no one checking up on them. It really ticks me off.

Could just be me, though. I'm tired. And feeling grouchy.

So Brutal, go check it out for your state and tell me if you are still feeling that it's so easy for people to get on medicaid. It's not. No, no, no.

wow VI...I hope your better at hiding your old man boner than mccain is...
Tips ... there are a few things you need to know about old guyz. For one, we old guyz NEVER hide our boners. :blsmoke:

There's three basic things to abide by when you're old if you want to have a decent life:

1. Never pass up a restroom.

2. Never waste a hard-on.

3. Never trust a fart.

I blame the Democrats, they are the ones that tremendously supported the bail out in the House.

(Not that the Republicans in the Senate aren't guilty of the same.)

Yup.

Is that info for MediCARE or MediCAID?

Just wondering.

I missed Ms. Palin on SNL last night. I just don't watch tv that much. I'll have to catch it on You Tube, I guess.

Any comments on Powell's endorsement of Obama?

I've been waiting for Powell to redeem himself to me for years, ever since he left office. I want him to come clean about the lies told on the floor of the UN. I know that he has and feels a duty to be loyal to his commander in chief, but I'm disgusted by this whole thing. If Powell knew it was all lies re Saddam's INability to build a nuclear bomb, and that the Iraqi UN rep was begging for more time to allow UN inspectors in, then that trumps the loyaly to the commander in chief. To defend him on that one would be about the same as defending the guys at the My Lai Massacre, who all just went along with it.

But whatever the case, I'll take Powell's endorsement. I do think he put a lot of thought into it. FWIW, I used to have a lot of respect for Powell, and when Bush first "won" in 2000, I was delighted to hear that Powell was secretary of state.

In case anyone's not seen the article yet, here it is, along with some quotes from Powell on his respect for McCain, along with his misgivings. Note how Powell brings up McCain's inexperience with the economy. Very good points. Note also that Powell gives credit where credit is due re McCain.

He's a well spoken man. He just screwed us all when he went along with that bullshit at the UN. I'm still waiting for that expose from him.

So, Brutal, was that MediCARE or MediCAID? Just curious.

Vi? What's so bad about being old? What was that? You do not hide boners? Well, why should ANYONE, regardless of age, have to? Remember now, I"m a flaming liberal! Equal opportunity for all, regardless of all that stuff . . . including age!

Comments re my chewing you about the liberal media? Nothing? Not one word for me? I'm going go to my room now so I can go cry. You've hurt my feelings. xoxoxoxo

Later all.
